We have had a great amount of rain during the past two weens, but I am glad to say it has quit for awhile. There is a great amount of vis iting in our community' at present. Mrs. W. G. Middlebrooks, of this place, is in Jones county, vis iting her mother, who is very sick. Hou. M. F. Etheridge and Messrs. P. H. Varner and L F. Aikin made a flying visit to Jack- son, Sunday morning, to see Mr. R. N. Etheridge, who is in busi ness with his cousin, Mr. J. F. Etheridge. Messrs. Ira Aikin and W. G. Middlebrooks attended the associ ation in Dooly last week. Messrs. T. A. Newell, Jack Gar vin a ad Samuel !,[ill attended the meeting of the County Alliance at Elko. They report a big meeting and fine time. The young folks of this place have started their fall entertain ments- W a went to four last week. That’s it, enjoy yourselyes while you are young, for when you get old you will have something else to study about. Miss Annie Nortken, who is vis iting relatives in and' around here, will leave here next Wednesday for her home in Texas. Miss An nie has gained many friends, who, regret her departure. Mr. J. W. She had been sick ror some time. She leaves one fou and four daughters to mourn her death. Oar loss is her eternal gain. .Paul Varner and his chum, Simon Newell, visit ^Hattie four or five times a week. We don’t know what they come for. The nearest way to Sam Thomp son’s cotton patch is by Hattie. We do not know whether this is true or uot. Will Kemper and Will Alexan der were in town to-day. Will K. comes every Sunday.
