For weak eyes, a wash of weak
salt and'water will prove of much
benefit .
Salt and water, quite strong, and
used persistently. fora time will
prevent the hair from falling out.
A teaspoonfnl of salt distclved'
in one-half glassful of .water is
excellent to allay nausea in sick
headaches.
To relieve heart-burn drink a
half tumbler full of cold water in
which has been dissolved a table-
spoonful of-salt.
When whiping up the floor be
fore putting the carpet down,
sprinkle it all over with salt, while-
damp; this will greatly prevent
months.
For stings or bites from any
kind; of insect, apply dampened
salt, bound tightly over the spot,
[t will relieve, quid usually cure
very quickly.
Salt as a tooth-powder is Fetter
than almost any other dentifrice.
It keeps the teeth very white, the
gums hard and rosy, and the
breath fresh.
IFthe throat is- very sore, wring
a cloth out of cold salt and water,
andbind it on the throat tightly,
whengoing to bed; cover it with a
dry towel. This is excellent.

of dollars are lost to the farmers

There

It is a kuown fact that we allow
too much to go to waste, and the
fact is hot stronger than in the
particular to which we refer.
There is always a constant demand
for preserved fruits, jellies, and
kindred goods. We expend thou
sands of dollars to northern manu

the various middlemen, when thfe
materials grow in plenty all around
us.
Would it not be an excellent
idea for the various sub-alliances
to investigate this matter 'before
the fruit season is on, and estab

surplus fruits and berries could be
put in marketable shape? We
throw out the suggestion, and trust
it will be acted upon.
