There is more talk of “what is
going to become of the Farmers” J
than was ever heard before.
The farmers themselves'are the-

There is not a farmer in the state
who can profitably make cotton to n

•they can’t make corn.

The little fellow led the way,out

tlie cat, sure enough, intently
watching, with tail steadily moving
from side to side, a brown object
on the ground about two feet fur

closed a snake coiled, with out
stretched, flattened head, and
tongue darting in and out. The
snake was quickly killed with a
hoe. It was of the kind common
ly known as a chicken, or rat
snak—said to be harmless, except
in satisfying its appetite for young
chickens.
Then there was speculation
among the children as to whether
the cat found the snake, or the
snake had found the cat.
It was finally decided that it was
a good thing to have a cat that
would find and stop the “booggers”
until some one could kill them.
