In this vision of Ezriael there
is another proclamation of Jeho
vah, whieh stands as sore as His
word. He showed the prophet a
valley full of bones, very many
bones, and very dry; and He com
manded him to speak to them, that
they should lire; and behold a shak
ing, and the bones came together,
and io, the sinews and the flesh
came upon them, and the skin cov
ered them above: bat there was no
breath in them-
Tben Jehovah commanded him
to speak to the wind to breathe up
on these slain, that they may live.
And the breath came into them and
they lived, and stood op upon their
feet, an exceeding great army.
And Jehovah said, "These bones
are the whole boose of Israel: be
hold, they say, oar bones are dried,
and oar hope is lost; we are cat
off from oar parts. Therefore
prophesy and say onto them, thus
saith the Lord God: Behold, O My
people, I will open yonr graves,
and cause yon to come np oat of
yonr graves, and bring you into
the land of Israel. And ye shall
know ihat-I am the Bird, when I
have opened yonr graves, O My
people; and bronght yoa ap oct of
your graves, and shall pat My Spir
it in you, and ye shall live, and I
shall place voo in yonr own land.'
The Messiah, the word of the
Lord, spoke again to the prophet
Ezekiel, commanding him to join
two sticks together which should
become one. On these two sticks
the name of the divided kingdoms
of Israel and Jndah was to be writ
ten, and Jehovah tells its meaning:
“Thus saith the Lord God: behold,
I will take the children of Israel
from among the heathen, whither
they be gone, and will gather them
on every side, and bring them into
their land: And I will make them
one nation in the land apon the
mountains i>f Israel; and one King
shall be King io them all: and they
shall be no more two nations, nei
ther shall they be divided into two
kingdoms any more at all.
“And they shall dwell in the land
that I have given unto Jacob, My
servant-even they, and their child
ren, and their children’s children
forever.—My tabernacle also shall
be with them: yea, I will be their
God, and they shall be mv people.
And the heathen shall know that
I the Lord do sanctify Israel.”
We who believe God, and are
waiting for His Son from Heaven,
can sorely be in sympathy with the
desire of His heart, and not only
pray for His ebosen people, the
seed of Abraham, and for the peace
and speedy establishment of the
holy city, Jerusalem; bat make oar
sympathy known to every Hebrew
with whom we eome in contact,
that they may see oar love for
them. Oar Redeemer, their Broth

be defeated in the election
year.
Some of the leading republicans |
admit that the continuation of the!
struggle in the Philippines is hart-;
ing the republican party. Mr.i,
McKinley has been directing the
Philippine campaign in the past,
and it is apparent to his own party
that he has made a mess of it.
Therefore, a change is necessary,
if the republicans hope to win in
the national election next year.
Politics rather than a desire for
harmony doubtless actuates the!
president in his reported determi-1
nation to pacify Gen. Miles. The |
first step was io get rid of Secretary[
Alger, and put a new man in his
{dace, who would “know how to
handle” Gen. Miles, and make him
believe that Alger and not the
president was responsible for the
slight so long pat apon him by the
administration. Gen. Miles; while
a capable officer, no dodbt, is re
garded as a man of no little vanity
and Secretary Boot may flatter him
into believing that the president
has great regard for his ability,
and really got rid of Alger so that
Miles might be given the command
of the forces to whieh he is entit
led by reason of his rank.
No donbt the little scheme has
been nicely and carefully planned,
but it has probably been delayed
too long to be entirely successful.
The public will be pleased if tardy
justice is at least done the com
manding general of the army, bat
it arill be slow to forgive the admin
istration for the many and grave
mistakes of the campaign in the
Philippines, whieh have cost this
country so much money and snch
a large number of precious lives,
whieh have been needlessly sacri
ficed.
