Since our last communication
there has been quite a warming;
up of the weather, which has en- ■
livened the corn and hastened the;
up coming of re-planted cotton,
thereby putting an easement upon
the uneasyness of the farmers who j
have been somewhat depressed, in
consequence of the cbol weather
followed by the present drought.
If th§ old adage is true that, ‘A
bad- begining makes a good end
ing’ the farmers may rest assured
that this time of dejection will
have its time of rejoicing.
Picnics are the fad at present.
There were three in our communi

Houser’s mill and one at Mr. Tom
Brown’s.

A prospective fisherman is re
puted to have seen a trout in the
old Allen mill pond that was as
large as his baby and this has
caused an influx of fishermen in
that direction to search for the
finny; but without succes. Some
one has suggested that he was the
pioneer of the stream and had too
much cranium stuffing to be en
trapped by the sport.
A very enjoyable occasion was
the ice cream festival at the resi
dence of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. David
son on last Saturday night. It
was well attendtd and those pres
ent were very much delighted.
The pastor in charge filled his
regular appointment at Provi
dence on Sunday to a very atten
tive congregation.
Miss Laura Young of Macon and
Miss Eunice Dukes of Powersville
were in our community on last
Saturday evening, escorted by two
of our gallant young men.
