Miss Bonnie Tooke, formerly of I
Houston county, Ga., and Mr. S. C;
follows:
“The number of pensioners from
the war between the states is still
increasing, although 86 years have
gone by since the close of that
struggle. During the fiscal year,
the roll for that wnr shows a net in
crease of 1,944; further, there were
about 75,000 altogether new claim
ants whose demands were awaiting
action at the end of the year, while
upwards of 225,000 now on the roll
were demanding increases on vari
ous pleas. The net increase in the
roll during the last year from all
wars was 4,206, bringing it up to
the enormous total of 997,735 per
sons, who draw over $138,000,000,
about the same as the average for
the past eight years. Since the be
ginning of the government, $2,763,-
350,000 have been paid in pensions.
One person in 75 of the present pop
ulation of the country now draws a
pension; one in 35 of the population
as it existed at the time of the civil
war draws a pension; and about one
in 25 of the population from which
the soldiers were drawn (the south
being excluded) draws a pension.
These figures call for no comment;
their simple recital being as, appall
ing as anything ever heard of.”

All doctors have tried to cure Catarrh
by the use of powders, acid gases, inhal
ers and drugs iu paste form. Their pow
ders dry up the mucous membranes,
causing them to crack open and bleed.
The powerful aods used in the inhalers
have entirely eaten away the same mem
branes that their makers have aimed to
cure, while the pastes and ointments can
not reach the disease. An old and expe
rienced practitioner who lias for many
years made a close study and specialty
of the treatment of Catarrh, has at last
perfected a treatment which, when faith
fully used, not only relieves once, but
permanently cures Catarrh, by remov
