Miller—Grace.
From the Macon Telegraph we
learn that Mr. John T. Miller, of
Havana, Houston county, Ga., was
married on Wednesday of last week
to Miss Mamie D. Grace of Macon,
Of the marriage the Telegraph
says: "The marriage has been an
ticipated for some time, but the date
had not been made known. The
marriage was very quiet, only a few
friends being present.”
The groom is one of the most pro
gressive young farmers of Houston
county, and is quite pqpular with
all who know him, especially with
his neighbors near Wellsion mid
throughout the lower 5th district
Our most cordial congratulations
are extended, with best wishes for
their continued prosperity and hap

—-The exceptionally heavy rain that
fell last Monday night was probably
the beginning Of die autumnal equi
nox. Tuesday afternoon there was
more rain, and that night the vol
ume of rain, telling all night, was
greater than has been known here in
many years. Wednesday morning it
was discovered that much damage
had been done to the cotton crop,
to roads, mill dams and bridges. A
considerable portion of the Houston
Factory dam was washed away, and
vehicles cannot cross there. The
dam at Tharp’s mill broke also. The
foot bridge over the east branch at
Perry was overturned, timbers from
the new Big Indian bridge washed
down stream, the railroad trestle at
Perry parity undermined, all the wa
terways overflowing, and no one
knows how much damage generally
has been done. Much open cotton
in the fields was practically ruined.
The train due at Perry at 10:50 fell
ed to reach town.
