County Exhibits at The State Fair.
Only three counties have thus far
formerly entered exhibits with Sec-
etary James CJ. Shaw^of the Fair
Association ai Savannah. They are
Cobb, Camden and Bartow, but Col.
Pope Brown is expecting others to
get in line very soon. Five or six
are all that are really needed, says
Mr, Brown, as they take np pretty
much all available space and show
enough in the way of products to
have about all for which Georgia is
famous represented. Some eight or
ten counties have been promising to
make exhibits, and Mr. Brown will
be glad to have them^do so, he sai<|,
but even with those that have made
formal application for space, the suc
cess of the fair, so far as county ex
hibits are concerned, is assured.
At the state fair held in Atlanta
Mr. Brown says there were but two
county exhibits, yet the display
seemed large enough to satisfy all.
With a small number of counties
making displays, the work is facili
tated. There is not so much to be
done in the way of preparation, and
there is the great advantage of there
being prizes for all.

To Whom it May Concern—I was
a sufferer from stomach trouble until
I was induced to try a bottle of Dr.
Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin, and I want
to say that in my opinion it has no
equal as a stomach remedy. I had
tried many different remedies, but
none with the happy results of Dr.
Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin.

New York is a sorely plagued <?ity
just at present, to judge from the
Tribune’s statement of the situation.
It says, there are mosquitoes and
fleas, and'grasshoppers and caterpil
lars, and inch worms and slow
worms and quick worms, wHh moths
and bugs in countless millions, in
the city. Then one may refer to
New York as a flea-bitten and moth r
eaten old town on the testimony of
its own representatives.—Savannah

Many physicians are now prescrib

it is the one predaration which con

The Southern Girl.
In the Woman’s Home CompanioD
for October Mr. H. S. Canfield has an
entertaining article on “The South
ern Girl of Yesterday and To-day.”
He compares the girl of the South
with the girl of the West and North
and finds much in the former’s fa
vor. He says:
“In former days the more slaves a
girl’s father owned, thp more she felt
it a requirement to become an ac
complished housewife. These recon
dite arts, of which we men pierce
not the mysteries and see only the
results, are preserved to-day ‘down
Southland if there is one quality
which more than another endears* a
Southern girl to her worshipers it is
her love of home, her pride in her
home and her ability to make that
home a home. This is a knowledge
which does not glare oppressively in
the drawing-room; but when she
marries it becomes more and more
golden year by year. The young
Southern mother happily married
does not think her life restricted be
cause that life is homelike. She does
not /feel ‘cabined, cribbed, confined.’
She enjoys brief excursions into the
outside world; but she tires readily,
and on the return journey her eyes
light up as the car wheels whir un
der her, and she thinks, ‘Each revo
lution is that much nearer home!’ If
some wrestler wearied in the arena
of earth’s activities, some cynic sick
ened with ‘this deep disease of life,’
should seek her in her peaceful fast
ness, and, borrowing from sardonic
Iago, tell her that her mission is to
‘suckle fools and chronicle small
beer,’ she would smile superior. She
knows better. Home is home.—in
summer when the wide fields stir
not in the swooning noons; in au
tumn when hillside and valley blaze
in a riot of hue; in winter when the
mild air has a tang that merely
hints of snow in the far country
whence the wild goose beats his
way with steady wing; in spring
time when she sees ‘the fat soil rise
and roll in smooth, dark waves back
from the plow.’ ”
Water, Cure for Chronic Constipation.
Take two cups of hot water half
an hour before each meal and just
before going to bed, also a drink
of water, hot or cold, about two
hours after each meal. Take lots
of out door exercise—walk, ride,
drive. Make a regular habit of
this and in many cases chronic
constipation may be cured with
out the use of any medicine.
When a purgative is required take
something mild and gentle like
