In Memory of Bertha Boler.
■ V —.
Written For The Hokb Journal.
On the afternoon of Sept. 29th,
1901, at 4 o’clock, the dt,ath angel
entered the happy unbroken home
of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Boler and
plucked from their midst onr
darling, Bertha. She was nine
years and four months old. Oh 1
’tis so heartbreaking to give her
up, but to his will we must sub
mit.
She was one of the sweetest and
brightest children I ever knew,so
sweet and mild in disposition,
ever willing and ready to do some
kind deed;all that knew her could
not help to love her, but we ought
to be consoled by the thought that
she is now an angel in Heaven,
resting, sweetly resting, in the
Savior,s fond embrace. She has
left this world of trials and sorrow
and gone to that beautiful home
beyond the* grave, where sorrow is
no more, but everlasting peace
and happiness and there in the
midst of angles she will wait to
welcome us.
Never was a most dutiful and
obedient child to her parents, so
kind and true to her sisters and
brothers. So be consoled, dear
parents, for your darling is peace
fully sleeping in the Savior’s arms
and will some future day gladly
welcome yon. God|saw that she
was too pure and spotle.ss to re
main in this cruel world, so He
took her Home to wear a crown
of Glory.
Dearest Bertha, we have laid thee
In the peaceful grave’s embrace,
But thy memory will be cherished,
Until we see thy Heavenly face.
One sweet flower has dropped and faded, |
One sweet ehildish voice has fled;
One fair brow the grave has shaded,
One precisus darling now is dead,
Bertha is an angel now.
Why weep for her to-day;
If in Heaven your hopes are stayed,
Then drive those tears away.
Tharpe, Ga.

In Massachusetts a fortune of

condition that they never marry.
As each of the beneficiaries is in
her sixty-first year, it is not like
ly that the terms of the will will
be disregarded. Still, there is no
counting for a certainty upon
what a woman will do. The dis

the information that a widow in

A.sugar mill with a daily ca
pacity of 150 tons is to be estab
lished at once in a suburb of Jack
sonville, Fla. The plant will cost
in the neighborhood of $100,000.
The mill company will plant 600
acres of cane, and will encourage
farmers in the neighborhood to
enter more largely into cane grow
ing. The mill will extract 90 to
95 per ceut. of the saccharine
matter from the cane, thus prac
tically doubling the output of the
cane as compared with the farm
method of extracting the juice.
Jacksonville is to be congratulat
ed upon the establishing of this
new enterprise at her doors. Its
success—of which there is no rea
son for doubt—will mean the at
tracting of a number of other su
gar mills to Florida. Within a
short" time, therefore, Florida
may become a sugar producer of
some importance. We would like
to see a number of such small su
gar mills established in South
Georgia. We believe that in both
this state and Florida there is a
splendid opening for them.

Rev. A. B. Simpson, the mis
sion orator who has won fame by
pursuading men and women to
pull of their watches, diamonds
and rings and contribute them
for mission work, now appears in
the role of a prophet of coming
calamity. The end of the world,
he declares, is due to arrive in
thirty years’ time. “God told
Daniel,” he says, “that the Gen
tiles would rule Jerusalem seven
times seven prophetic years. Bi
ble students assert that the term
as used in Holy Writ means 860
years. That means that the enc
of the period when the arrogant
oppressive rule of the Gentiles
shall cease is near at hand. But
thirty years remain:” That
brings the preacher into conflict
with Lieut. Totten, who has fix
ed a different date for the great
cataclysm; and Totten says he
has worked it out by mathema
tics.
