Coroner Schilling held an in
quest Saturday morning, with the
following jurors:
Brown Riley, foreman; W. E.
King, J. C. Riley,'E Ragin, G.
W Winn and F. T. Schilling.
The verdict declared that the
killing was murder.
Severel witnesses were examin
ed, but only one knew anything
that would show cause for the
schooting. This evidence was to
the effect the wife and husband
had been quarreling and fighting
about another woman. That on
the night of the shooting, the.wife
called her husband from the home
of that other woman, and shortly
afterward the pistol shot was fir
ed, and the wife died almost im
mediately. The bullet entered
the head just above the right eye.
When shot the wife was standing
on the front porch, and the hus
band on the ground.
Lewis says the shooting was ac
cidental, and that within an hour
he had taken three drinks of whis
key.
Lewis Roberts was arrested Sat
urday morning, and is now in jail,
he having waived a commitment
trial.
