Mrs. Laura Hose returned home Saturday from an extended visit to Vienna. Misses Ollie Winslow and Kate McGehee of Marshallville visited in our village last week, the fam ilies of Messrs. The children were given an hunt by their theaoher Saturday afternoon, in the beautiful yard around the school house. There were about forty-five children present, besides their parents and several young men and ladies of the village. Each one found plenty of eggs and had a “fine old time,” as they said. He said: One rainy day last week 150 rats were killed in the barn of Charlie Roes, a progressive color ed farmer about four miles from Perry on the Hayneville road. These rats weighed an aggregate of 76 pounds, 77 of them weighing | sale, a fraction less than a pound each. These rats were used to fertilize cotton to be planted in a field near the barn.
