Progress is surely ours.
The commodious addition to
the depot is welcomed as comfort

beautifying to t|e town. Three
new dwellings are planned to go
up m January. The foundation
of one is already laid.
Our college girls are returning
home to join in the festivities of
the holidays. Our boys, who are
also “drinking deep of the Pier
ian. Springs” will gladden our
homes and friends for.a few days.

Parties* Miss Sadie Peavy to Mr.
Frank Kilpatrick.
On December 30th Miss Fannie
B. Yiqson will be married to Mr.
Emmett Vinson at the Methodist
church.
All we need now is a
match to cap the climax.
It isn’t necessary to become as
sistant at Dunbar or P. M. at By
ron, you see, to get married—it is
an epidemic, and may all catch it
who wish.
The Methodists and Baptists will
have a joint Xmas tree at the school
room on Xmas eve night, December
24th. The children expect Santa to
be at his best—cheerful, happy, and
not one remain forgotten. I must
tell the scheme the committte is ar
ranging for one, so she will be sure
of a present. They are really plan
ning to lasso a certain young man,
bag him, tag him, and tie him in the
top of the Tree of Delight. Scanda
lous, don’t you think? I mean, that
they don’t see that each of the com
mittee has a like gift(?).

PRACTICAL BUSINESS COLLEGES.
Schools of National Reputation.
Draughon’s Praotioal Business' Col
leges, looated at Atlanta, Nashville, St,
Louis, Montgomery, Little Rook, Fort
Worth, Galveston and Shreveport, are
Bohools of national reputation. They
are strongly endorsed by business men
from Maine to (California. Prof. Draugh-
on, who is author of four text-books on
Bookkeeping, and proprietor of these in
stitutions, doubtless expends more mon
ey for securing positions for his students
than almost auy one business oollege in
this country takes in as tuition. He
guarantees positions under reasonable
conditions, and will allow a student to
deposit money iu bank till the cousre is
completed and position seoured. FoUr
weeks course of Bookkeeping iu his col
leges is equal to twelve weeks in any col
lege that does not employ his improver!
methods of teaohing. His Colleges also
offer special advantages iu Penmanship,
Shorthand, Typewriting, etc. It is gen
erally conceded by those who are iu po
sition to know that Prof. Draughon’s
success iu the Business College work has
been greater than that of any one, else.
His superior course of instruction and
his special facilities for securing posi
tions are almost an offset to competition
where the merits of his work are known.
His illustrated catalogue will explain
all. Send for it. Address <T. F. Draughon,
President, at either of the above men
