WE HAVE BEEN
LOOKING...
For several years for a case of Piles,
Boils, Outs, Burns, Bruises, Sore and
Fevered Breast, Old Sores, Insect Bite
or Sting, Ringworm ur Tetter, that Mrs
Pope’s Mullen Salve would not
cure, but so far we have been agreeably
disappointed. The verdict of all who
have used it is that it’s the one quick,
absolute and perfeot healer. Nothing on
earth like it. Nothing sensational or
fakey about it. It stands on its merit.
It is put up in a neat and pretty pack
age. Use it. Your money back if you
are not satisfied. If your druggist does
not have it in stock, send us 50 cents and
we will send you a large box by mail.

The Spinster Club.
On Saturday afternoon, April
4th, Miss Kathryne Martin enter
tained the spinsters in a most roy
al manner. As the afternoon was
clear and bright, there was quite
a jgood number out to enjoy the
hospitality of this charmiug home.
The parlor was adorned with,
lovely cut flowers, while the hall
was made beautiful by pots of
long creeping ferns.
After all the business of the
club had been well disoussedyMiss
Kathryne, in her usual graceful
manner, introduced quite an in
teresting game, which gave us all
an opportunity to display our
knowledge, or our ignorance, rath
er, of modern literature.
Miss Russell proved to be the
most literary of our number,
thereby winning for herself a
lovely box of stationery. *
While we were laughing and
making merr£ over our sister’s
good fortune, M,iss Kathryne and
her charming sister, Mrs. Brun
son, served us with dainty refresh
ments, and we immediately be
came quiet and began to rejoice
silently over our own good for
tune instead.
It was indeed time all spinsters
w&re at home when we said fare-
'well to our hostess, thanking her
for a most delightful afternoon.

The grim monster has again
invaded our rauks and taken from
the home of Mr. J, W. Tabor his
oldest son, George.
George was born Maroh 8, 1867.
The Death Angel summoned his
spirit to that 11 Blissful Land”Sun-
day morning, April 12. His most
devoted mother had only preced
ed him to the grave eleven days.
The ’ day she passed away, he
said, “Oh I it will only be a few
days before I go, too.”
v George had been in declining
health for about two years, but
was confined to his bed only the
last eleven weeks of his life. He
seemed to have hope pjf getting
well, until his precious mother
diedjthen he longed to go. George
was 36 years 1 month and 9 days
old, was never a member of any
church, although a truer boy was
never known. He was always obe
dient to his parents and devoted
to his half brothers and sisters.
This writer has often heard it said
that “the children were all as de
voted to George as they were to
oue-another.”
He leaves four bereaved sisters,
four brothers and an aged father
to mourn his death. They (are 4 :
Mrs. A, J. Barnes of Maoon, Mrs.
W. E. Hudson of Vanoy, Misses
Mamie and Pauline Tabor of near
Powersville, Messrs. J. S. and S.
W. Tabor of Taborton, J. H. Ta
bor of Macon and A. W. Tabor of
Powersville.
Remember, dear ones, it is the
work of an all-wise God, a God
who is too wise to err; and may
you realize it is a Divine purpose.
The bereaved ones have the
profound sympathy of their many
friends.
<\Dear brother, thou has left us,
And our loss we deeply feel,
But ’tis God that has bereft us;
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet, again, wo hope to meet thee,
When the day of life is fled,
When in Heaven with joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tear is shed,”
A Tbue Fbiend.
v Groyania Gleanings,
By Joo'Bedge,
Rev. Mr. Edwards of Henderson
preached for us Sunday instead of
our pastor, on acoount of the ill
ness of his wife. The sermon was
plain aud practical. The text waB
from St. Mathew 6: 28. Subject:
“Have I made life a siiooess?”
The frequeut rains and the oold
winds have made vegetation look
pale.
Farm work is moving on as well
as could be expected against so
many disadvantages.
Two or three oases of measles
are sain to be in oqr place, but
appear to be of a mild type. I do
not know whether sheep sorrel is
prescribed for the treatment now
or not, as times are inera progress
ive than in' my day and time.
However, Shannon says the pre
scription is yet good and never
has been “dulerated.”
While meandering around a lit
tle yesterday, I noticed the stands
of corn seem to be fair and the
farmers busy planting ootton.
The bugs have made their ap
pearance on Irish potatoes and are
doing much damage. One citizen
tried a solution of kainit on them
and it “sure done the work,” kill
ing the bugs and the potatoes.
Dr. E. 0. Brown of Hawkins-
ville was in our midst yesterday.
Mr. Dempsey Brown of Hawk-
insville visited homefolks Satur
day. We understand he has form
ed a copartnership and will open
a new drug business at Hawkins-
ville. We wish Dempsey and the
business much suocess, and oom-
mend him as an upright, high-
tone gentleman, and a young man
of excellent business qualities.

Byron Beat Macon.
An aggregation of ball players
from Macon met their Waterloo at
Wildwood 1 Park Saturday after
noon, by the plucky little Byron-
ites who have held the champion
ship of Houston for the past five
years. Although the score was
longer, it was interesting from
start to finish, and when the three-
bagger by Bayne with three men
on bases, was scored in the ninth
inning, the score then stood 18—8
in Byron’s favor.
The Maoon boys proved to be a
gentlemanly set of boys, and knew
how \o handle the horse hide and
willow well, but were simply out
classed.
Rushing was invisible through
out the game, and had it not been
for errors, Macon would not have
scored.
The base ball fanatics at By
ron now believe that the playing
little boys are ready to tackle any
team, and we hope to soon receive
some challenges from neighboring
town. We would be glad to give
Fort Valley aud Perrj one trial
each during the coming month. .
Another game will be played in
Byron next Saturday, April 25.
