Our school closed Friday, May,
2S, after a most prosperous year.
The Board of Trustees met Thurs
day afternoon and elected Prof.
J. A. Green for the fall term.
Prof. Green taught the spring
term and gave satisfaction iu
every way. He was loved by all
of his pupils and made frieuds
wherever he went. We regret
very much to give.him up. "He
returned to his home at Clayton,
Ga., Friday afternoon.
Misses Julia and Clara Eubanks
have returned from Perry where
the}’ 1 have boon attending school.
Mrs. H. S. Kezar left last Fri
day for Greenville, S. C , to at
tend commencement at Green
ville Female College. Her daugh
ter, Miss Lucile, will graduate
this term.
Mr. and Mrs. C G. Hardeman
are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J.

Miss Edna Kezar has returned
from Forsyth.

commencement at Unadilla last
week.

new outfit has been put in and

Rev. H. C. Brewton filled his

was neeompanied.by Misses Mabel
and Lucy Brewton.
Mr. II. Marshall of Henderson
was shaking hands with friends
here last week.
Mr. J. D. Marshall has been
very ill for the past week, but we
are glad to know that he is im
proving.
Mrs; John Bradd and children
of Cordele spent last Friday with
Mrs. J. J. Smith.
Mrs. W. E. Till and son, Eu
gene, spent several days visiting
relatives at Oglethorpe.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Eubanks at

last week.
Mr. W. D. Scott of Cordele has
moved his family here, and he is
engaged iu the blacksmith busi
ness. We are glad to have them
with us, and we wish him a pros
perous year.
Miss Carrie May Poole of Mar-
shallvilleji spent several days with
her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs.
W.[Means,last week. She return
ed home Thursday.
Miss Sarah E. Eubanks of Hen
derson passed through here last
week enroute to Valdosta, where
she will spend some time with rel
atives.
Miss Mamie Brown closed her
school at Henderson some time
ago and is at home again. She
reports a successful term.
Miss Clyde Buff has returned
from Hawkinsville where she at
tended school this year.
Anna Ma3 r , the little daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Clark has
been very ill. She is past recov
ering now.
Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Turrentine
spent several days in Vienna last
week.
Mr. A. 0. Brewton returned
Friday afternoon from Oxford,
where he has been attending
Emory College.

last several days. On last Friday
afternoon the lands several miles
above Perry were badly washed.

frequent visitor to our town.

attraction here to draw him from
a garden of fair maidens.
Messrs. Haley and Akin at
tended the Baptist Union at Elko
last Sunday, and they report a
fine time.
We aro all trying to get up u

have some pictures taken,but have
never seen or heard whether the
artist from Macon has arrived'or

snake killer. One day last week
while carrying the mail he put
his hand in the bag to get a let
ter and lo and behold he pulled
out a snake five[feet [long, of the
coach whip variety. Ask him
what he did and how he got rid
of him. |Now|I want some one to
tell me bow that snake got in the
mail bag, for Joe had not left the
Postoffice 30 minutes.
The writer was among tho se
lected crowd that enjoyed a most
excellent turkey dinner at the
hospital hbme of Mr. and Mrs
E. 0. Feagin last Sunday. Those
present were Claud Arnold, J. P.
Heard, Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Rushing, Perry Heard and Miss
Lizzie Heard. Mrs. Rushing as
sisted Mrs. Feagin in entertain
ing the crowd. After dinner the
crowd enjoyed themselves play
ing whist, crokonole aud flinch.

Miss Kate Woolfolk after re

weeks, has returned to her home
