Mail Carrier Died Suddenly.
Elko Etchings.
Bob Nelson, the negro mail car
rier on the Perry and Kathleen
route died suddenly in Perry last
Saturday night. He was on Car
roll street about 9 o’clock, and
while in the act of paying lodge
dues to the secretary of the order,
he staggered and said “help me.”
He was assisted to the steps-of a
store, and at once fell. He was
carried to Dr. Cater’s drug store,
and died as he wtis placed on the
floor. Apoplexy was the cause of
death. About three years ago he
suffered from a similar attack.
Bob was a faithful, upright
man, held in high esteem by white
and black people alike.
To the patrons o^fche mail route
between the towns, his death will
cause much sincere regret, aB he
was courtoous and obliging to all.
He was about 70 years old, and
had served this mail route faith
fully since. July 1st. 1900—8 years.
The ,route is now being served
Wf El by his son, who had been previ-

ful afternoon with Mrs
on the ninth of July,
j] The cozy little home ’was fra-

which were used purposely. In
the hall we were served with deli-
jcious punch. After an exchange
of greetings and much chatter,
the president called club to order,
j The rules were read by secretary
and stood approved. A motion
was then made to suspend club
after next meeting for the month
of: August. This motion was car
ried. So our next meeting, July
28rd, at'the home of Mrs, J. A.

It is very gratifying indeed,'to
note the increased interest on the
part of the boys and girls in edu
cation—especially in business ed
ucation—for there is nothing else
in which they can invest their
money that will bring them such
large and certain profits. The
general favorite in this state, par
ticularly this section, seems to be
the Ga -Ala. Business College at
Macon, Ga., which is not sur
prising, for, it certainly offers
them unparalleled advantages as
shown by its published card in
this issue, guaranteeing them po
