much happier when the day ar
rived and all were gathered in the
ovely home, which was prettier
than usual on this occasion, dec
orated with beautiful flowers,
palms and ferns.
Miss Houser received her guests
quite gracefully, and soon the
happy party of maids and mat
rons were blended as one.i
Progressive salmagundi gave
just the diversion we needed, and
with merry laughter and happy
voices all entered the contest in
earnest.
The games indulged in were
flinch, crol^inole, carroms, ping
pong, lotto, Jack straws and lem
ons, and everything became still
as all entered the contest, each
hoping to win the victory. Miss
Kate Moore was the lucky spins
ter who won the prize, a lovely
handkerchief, which was grace
fully presented by Mrs. Albert
Dix, one of the matrons.
Miss Houser was never more
beautiful than on this occasion,
dressed in pure white—a lovely
dress of organdid'and net.
Never were matrons entertain
ed in a more charming manner,
and all declared Miss HoiiBer an
ideal hostess. But while we were
happy, a feeling of sadness came
over us at the thought of losing
her soon. Perry will lose and
Buena Vista gain a charming ac
quisition to sooiety and church
when Miss Lula goes as matron —
bride of Prof. W. W. Driskell.
Ices and cakes were served by
Messrs. H. P. Houser and J. R.
Miller, Jr., who proved quite effi
cient in pleasing both maids and
matrons with their charniing
grace and easy manners.
