'Jommitted suicide at his home
in Hawkinsville, shooting him
self in the head with a pistol.
For six months or more he
lad suffered with cancer of the
stomach., and approached near
unto death about two months ago.
He suffered terribly, often the
pain almost crazed him and at
the tim6 of his fatal act, he
dohbtless was irresponsible from
suffering and despondency.
Dr. Frederick was a native of
Houston county, second son of
Mr. Joseph M Frederick of near
Wellston. He was quite popular
with his many friends in Hous
ton, and of him the Hawkins
ville correspondent of the Macon
Telegraph says: /
“The death of Dr. Frederick is
generally deplored. He was very
prominent as a physician and
held a large practice when in
good health. The town and com^
munity sustain a heavy loss in
Dr. Frederick as a citizen. He
owned considerable property, was
prominent Mason, and a mem
ber of the Methodist church.”
The writer 'knew Henry Fred
erick, and esteemed him highly
as an upright, true-hearted gen
tleman ; a man of a high order of
intelligence and strict integrity.
With the devoted wife and son in
Hawkinsville, the parents, broth
er ancl sisters in 4 Houston, his
many friends most sincerely sym
pathise in their sorrow.

Miss Emma Barfield ot near
Perry was' the charming guest of
Mrs. Or. T, Brown last week.
I suppose it is generally known
that Miss Barfield will again fill
the place as teacher here for the
fall term.
Mr. J. G. Skipper made a fly
ing trip to Slcipperton last Satur
day, returning Monday.
What does all this mean? watch
the railroad boys, for old Skipp
iB going and coming.
Mr. W. S. Haley went up to
Skipperton Sunday of last week
and returned Horne Tuesday. He
attended protracted moeting
while there and reported a good
time. The meeting is being con
ducted by Rev. W. L. Cutts, as
sisted by three other divines.
Miss Zana Spence of Camilla
spent several days last week with
Mies Lizzie Daniel.
We are informed that Miss Liz
zie has now returned to her school
at Milledgeville.
Miss Delia Etheridge of near
Hawkinsville i9 the guest of Mrs.
W. G. Fitzgerald.
Rev. W. B. Bassett filled his
regular appointmont at the
Hayneville Baptist church, and a
large crowd was present, but not
protracted meeting as reported
by Sunshine, greatly to the die
appointment of all present.
We need God’s blessing here,
for old Hayneville could be made
a perfect Eden but for a few tares
that have become rooted here,and
we do need some of God’s works
to uproot these tares, and I do
pray that the time will'soon come
when we can • learn the impor
tance of seeipg our own wrongs
instead of our neighbor’s.
We gladly welcome every day
of Divine worship we have here,
and God see fit for us to have a
meeting, I do trust there will be
much good done.

Who ever heard of the like-of sudden
deaths? It seems the world is dying on
its feet! When people feel bad they
“tank up” on a stimulant and go at it
like fighting fire, until he drops dead
on his feet. When you feel bad, when
ibe liver becomes clogged, the secretions
closed and the system stagnated, the
proper thing to do is to take a course of
the celebrated Ramon’s Liver Pills and
Tonic Pellets, two medicines; the liver
Pills open up the secretions, the Tonic
Pellets tone the organs and tonio the
system and insure natural, normal con
ditions. Complete course 25c.

DRAUGHON’8
PRACTIC AL BUSINESS COLLEGES
Schools of National Reputation.
Draughon’s Practical Business Col
leges, located at Atlanta, Nashville, St.
Louis, Montgomery, Little Rook, Fort
Worth, Galveston and Shreveport, are
schools of national reputation. They
are strongly endorsed by business men
from Maine to Calisornia. Prof. Dragb
on, who is author of . four text-books on
Bookkeeping, and proprietor of these in
stitutions, doubtless expends more mon
ey for securing positions for his students
than almost any one business college in
this country takes in as tuition. He
guarantees positions under reasonable
conditions, and will allow a student to
deposit money in bank till the course is
completed and position secured. Four
weeks course of Bookkeeping in Mb col
leges is equal to twelve weeks in any col
lege that does not employ his improved
methods of teaching. His Colleges also
offer special advantages in Pepmapship
Shorthand, Typewriting, etc. It is geD-
erally conceded by those who are in po
sition to know that Prof. Dranghon’s
success in the Business College work has
been greater than that of any one else.
His superior course of instruction and
his special facilities for securing posi
tions are almost an offset to competition
where the merits of his work are known.
His illustrated catalogue will explain
all, Send for it. Address J. F.Draughon,
President, at either of the above men
tioned places.
