Just one week more, and /the
Houston county fair will open,
beginning Wednesday, October
7th, to continue four days.
Last Friday the business men
of Perry and other stockholders
of the fair apsqciation met with
the executive committee, N and fi
nal details of the management
were arranged. All the work nec
essary for the exhibits and their
care will be completed this week.
An attractive program for each
day h&s been arranged—see first
page of this papef. . ‘
The members of the executive
committeo have left hothing un
done that could promote the fair,
and if the exhibitors do as well
in their line, the fair will be one
the best, if not the best, ever seen
in Georgia.
There will be three tickets of
admission. . ,
A straight ticket for 26 cents;
an all-day ticket for 60 cents, per
mitting the holder to 2 leave the
grounds'and returri (Hiring the
day purchased. A season ticket
for 75 cents, permitting the hold
er to go in and out at any time
ty taxes.
—Twenty-five automobiles from
Macon will be at Armory Park
when the county fair opens next
Wednesday.
—Prof. T. W. Murray is prin
cipal of Hattie public school, the
fall term of which opened last
Monday.
—Miss Sarah Tounsley is visit
ing Mrs. J. H. Odffee at Rising
Fawn, amid the mbuntaihs of
North Georgia.
—The fall ; term of Elberta
school in the Lower fifth district,
began last Monday with Prof. 0.
T. Oheves in charge.
—The Spinsters’ club will meet
with Miss Geprgelle Simmons
Tuesday afternoon next week;

She is a graduate of Peabody
Normal, college at Nashville,
Tenn., and is qualified to give

—Clerk I. T. Woodard and his
two daughters, Misser Mary and
Annie, are now residents of Per
ry, their household effects having
been moved into the Faulk house
on Main street, last week. They
are given* cordial -welcome, and;

E. K. Braselton has accepted' a
position as pharmacist ‘ at Vaidps-
ta, and: will move there with his
wife on the 1.5th of October’, Mr.
Braselton is an excellent drug

county.
All exhibitors should secure en
try blanks afc’once. Write to the
secretary, 0. C, Duncan, Jr., or
call at the bank office in the. Ma-
sonio building, Perry, Ga.
We are assured the exhibits
will he all right, representing the
county admirably in agriculture*
horticulture, gardening, stock-
raising and all lines ot industry.
Officials request us to say they
anticipate no lack in any depart
ment. save, perhaps, that of
fresh vegetables. In this oonneo-
tion we would suggest that those
who have fresh garden products,
such as|IrishJpotatoes, turnips,to
matoes, beans, etc., save the best
for the state fair exhibit, as the
best of everything will be needed
in the county exhibit that will
capture the fitst prize at the state
fair.

Houston Superior court, which
will .begin next Monday, the first
Monday in October. I
Jurors and witnesses have been
summoned and subpoenaed for 9

opened on time.
On the' civil calendar there are
62 cases, and all these have beep
set for the first three days of the
term. .The. aggregate of this dock
et is less than that of. last April,,
and it is not improbable that it
will be disposed of by Wednesday
