A Summons to All Methodists to Attend
Church Sunday, May 18, 1919
On Behalf of the Bishops, and Centenary Leaders.
f-K - — ■ - ■
METHODISM’S^ WORLD CAMPAIGN
The hour has come-“God’s hour and man’s hour. The worl r
challenged to observe the dignity and adequacy of Methodism’s Great
Missionary Centenary Celebration. Our plans have been well laid, and
a ll the details carefully observed. It remains to be seen only how each
individual Methodist will carry out his part of the program.
Let the Campaign which opens on May 18th. be ushered in by a
great Church - Going Sunday that shall fill all our churches with
c rowds of worshippers and with the spirit of faith and prayer. It is our
Lord who summons us to meet Him in the place of worship; let ours be
the churches answer to His gracious call for service He is mobilizing
his army. Let the foundations of Hell tremble under the foot falls Of
the hosts of the Lord, as the cry go?s up to Heaven. “The Lord of
Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.”
The world’s greatest need today is the Necessary Christ, and the
Religion he came to bring, which alone can render governments stable
and democracies safe. This is the debt America owes the world, for it
is the secret of her government and her greatness.
God stood by us in our time of great dostress, and delivered us
shall not each follower of His stand in his place, that the army of the
Lord may show us slackers.
Jesus still sits over against the treasury, and he shall behold our
gifts as the expression of our gratitude and our love. None will be too
largo to measure our gratitude, and none too small to escape His notice
if given with the motive of love.
At II o’clock Sunday morning, every member of the whole Perry
Charge is asked to be presant at the Perry Methodists church that wo
may literally go from our knees, to this great task. The Campaign
opens at 12 o’clock noon May 18lh The every member canvas will be
made that after noon,
