—Rev. Allien Cutts, of Hazelhurst,
was a visitor in Perry last Friday.
—Miss Lucy Talton, of Kathleen,
visited friends in Perry last Saturday.
—Miss Helen Cate*, who has been
teaching at Tennille, has returned

—Mr. T. D. Mason spent several
Jays this week with relatives in Jones
county..
—Mrs R. L. Marchman has return
ed home after spending a whie with
relatives in Columber.
.—Messrs. Clarence Brunson, Charles
King and Marion Greene spent sev
eral days this week in Jones County.
—MiBs Mildred Anderson of Myrtle
visiited Mrs. A. M. Annderson for
several days last week.
—Business men who use mailing
lists should know that a list that was
correct several years ago is full of
errors to-day. People have moved to
and from all post office communities.
—Miss Clifford Holtzclaw, who has
been attending Agnes Scott College,
at Decatur, has returned home for
the summer hollidays.
—Miss Mattie Chapman, who has
been teaching in Edison, Ga., has re
turned home lor the summer vaca
tion.
—Mr. Henry M. Powell, who has
been with the Medical Corps of the
Army for the past twelve months, ar
rived in Perry Monday, having re
ceived his discharge. Durin the great
er part of his service he was stationed
at a large hospital at Lakewood, N. J.
—A number of young people of
iVienna are enjoying an outing at
Lakeside this week. Among those in
the camping party are: Misses Mary
B. Bivens, Gene L. Morgan, Julia
Larkin, Bessie Butler, Alfreds Bell,
Lucile Morgan, Esther Bell, Carolyn
Modley, Lynda Morgan, Clifford Ad
kins, Tommie Wood, Nell Wood, Es-
tha and Cynthia Calhoun, Ida Mor
gan, Mrs. R. G. Lumsden, Mr. and
Mrs. J. J. Heard, Mr. and Mrs. T. G.
.Woodruff, Mr. Tippitt and others.
/ —Mr. Grady Harris, who recent
ly /arrived from France after nine
months service with the 31st. Divis
ion there, paid a brief viBis to home
folks at Perry Sunday, coming from
Camp Gordon where he is waiting his
discharge. Ho expectB to receive the
discharge this week and is delighted
with the prospects. .His friends are
glad to welcome him home.
—Mr. Asa Woodard arrived in
Perry Inst Friday after neatly twelve
months service with the American
army in France. He served in the
infantry with the 82nd. Division,and
atook part in some of. the biggest
battles of the war, among them be
ing the St. Micahael Drive and the
battle of the Argonne Forest. His
friends are glad to see him back
borne again.
As a complement to Miss Stella
Thurmond, one of Cochran's high
school tachers and a pretty bride-elect
whose marriage to Mr. Foy Thoma
son, of Columbus, will be a bright
event of June, Mrb. J. R. Garner en
tertained at a miscellaneous shower
on Wednesday afternoon.
The guests, upon arriving, were re
quested to write wishes which were
later presented to the bride-elect.
»The home was abloom with baskets
of sweet peas and vases of brown
eyed Susans, so arranged as ta make
a pretty setting for the guests as
they were engaged in the amusements
of the afternoon. A contest creating
quite a good deal of excitement was
the forming of words from the names
“Thui’mond-Thomason."
The hostess served delicious sand
wiches and iced tea, after which little
Henrietta Garner appeared with a
huge clothes-basket which was pre
sented Miss Thurmond as her week’s
washing— Upon investigation, many
lovely gifts were ^exhibited.—Coch

COUNTY LINE CASE POSTPONED
The County Line Case, involving
the transfer of some 40,000 acres of
land from Houston to Macon county,
which was to have come to trial on
Tuesday of this weeek, has been
postponed.
Owing to the fact that so many
whose presence would be required
at the trial were busy with the peach
crop, Judge Matthews decided to
postpone the case until after peach
seasson, apd all interested were no
tified last Monday.
The new date for the trial is the
first Monday in August.
MISSES HOLTZCLAW ENTERTAIN
Misses Katharine and Clifford
Holtzclaw were charming hostesses
.Saturday afternoon lat a beautiful
party given in honor of Mrs. Jesse
,W. Davis, a recent bride, and Miss.
Hazel Hurst, bride-elect.
The home was attractively deco
rated with pink roses, and sweet peas.
From one corner of the porch, punch
v was served by Misses Lois Swanson,
Frances Cater and Annie Wallace.

beautiful with its center basket, filled
.with white tulle. A delightful salad
■ (Course, followed by ice cream and
-cake, was served.
About guests enjoyed the delight-
' jful occasion.

AN EXCELLENT PLAY.

Christmas Carol at the Auuitormm
Jast Friday night attracted an au-
dianee that overflowed the hall and
betted the Perry Camp Fire Girls a
beat little sum.
Every part was well presented and
$he hearty applause of the audience
gave testimony of this fact. Perry
Jocal talent is hard to beat, and with
out being partial, the work of some

PEACH LANDS IN DEMAND.
There is much activity in farm
real esteate in this section of Hous
ton county, especially in the emmedi-
ate vicinity of Perry, all of which
point unmistakably to the future de
velopment of this section.
The spread of the Peach section in
this direction, the rapid delelopment
of peach orchards, large and small in
every direction out from Perry, and
the splendid crops that are being
gathered from young orchards at this
point, has created a very .active de
sire on the part of peach growers and
woud-be peach growers for land.
Tho sales of farm lands in this sec
tion have been many during the past
few months, and very recently, at
least half dozen farms close to Perry
have been sold, and all of them, it is
said will be used largely for growing
peaches.
J. P. Cooper last week purchased
of A. A. Smoak, 800, a part of the
largefarm beginning at the city limits
and extending out the Macon High
way. The purchase 1 price was about
$50,000.
C. H. Hardison a few days ago
bought the Warren Smith farm of
125 acres, paying about $70.00 an
acre for same.
J. B.Hardison of Dooly County has
bought the J. L. Dorris farm of 250
acres, theree miles south west of Per.
ry.
Glass and Evans of Fort Valley
recently the Yancey farm near Perry,
paying $50,000 for same.
Norton, Strother and Houser re
cently bought the Edwards farm east
of Perry.
There are several other deals pend
ing which will be announced later.
—Mr. E. W. Traler has purchased
the grocery stock of Mr. R. L. March-
man nncTthe stor will open under the
new management some time this
week.

of the Macon Presbytery will preach
at the Presbyterian Church in Perry
next Sunday evening at 8.30 o’clock.
