They are at home to their friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Paul Sr. —Mrs. G. P. Flanders and chil dren have returned to their home in Scotland, Ga. after a Bhort visit to her parents lure, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Norwood. —Mrs. E. F. Barfield attended commencement at the G. N. I. Col lege last week. Her sister, Miss Jew ell Williams, who is knownto Perry people from her visits to Mrs. Bar- field, was among the gx*aduates of this year. —Mrs. Conrad Boteweg and chil dren of Birmingham, Ala., who have been visiting her parents, *Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Chapman, left Wednesday for Sasser, where she will visit her sister, Mrs. George Johnston before returning home. —Mr. Blanton Watson arrived in Perry Monday after serving’ in France for about nine months with the 79th Division. He joinen his wife who has made her home here since he went to the army about a year ago. —Mr. Duncan Cater of Emory University spent several days this week with home-folks in Perry. He will spend the summer at Davis- Fisher Sanitarium where he expects to gain valuable experience, useful in the future pracice of his profes sion. —Sergent Major Harris Edwards, who went to France about eight months ago arrived in Perry this week and is visiting relatives here. Althouh he arrived too late to serve on the battle front, he enjoyed an opportunity to see France and visit ed all sections of the country. —Another big land sale occurr ed here last week. Mr. J. P. Westbrooks sold to Messrs M- A. Wesley and J. W. Davis his farm of about 800 acres, which includ ed.the farm known as “Oaky tuck” and part of the farm on top of Ross Hill which Mr. Westbrook recently acquired. The considera tion was $35,000. 'A social e\ent of unusual liance and interest in Perry the lovely reception given day evening by Mr. and Mrs. M. Paul, Sr., to Mr. and Mrs. Minor Paul, Jr, who have just turned from thoir wedding trip north. The large number of guests in vited were received at the door by Mesdames J. Alva Davis and Mis. H. P- Dobbins, and then by those of the receiving line, composed of Mr. and Mrs* L. M. Paul, Sr., Mr- and Mrs. L. M. Paul, Jr., 0* Iloltzclaw, Mrs. C. E. Mrs. M. M. Lowery, Mrs- G. Nunn and Miss. Katharine Holtz** claw. The spacious home was most ar tistically and beautifully decorat ed with hanging baskets and jar diniers of pink hydrangeas. The dining room was particularly at tractive with its contcrtablo beautiful jwiih its center basket of pink roses and sweet peas. Punch was served dnring the evening on the porches by Misses Catharine Norwood, Louise I-loltz- claw, Corrinne Duncan and Ruth Gilbert. Delightful refreshments which cleverly carried out the color motif; cream in which was moulded a pink wedding bell, pink cakes, and mints were served by charming young girls. Abqut one hundred and fifty guests enjoyed the lovely hos pitality of the host and hostess during the cvrning. BEN HILL ITEMS. On Friday, May 23rd, Ben Hill closed a most successful term under the efficient management of Miss Mary Smith as Principal and Miss Mattie English, Assistant. Mr. Oliver Hardison of Macon was in our vicinity Sunday. Mr. John Giles is back home fron over-seas. Kimble Smith dined with Thomas Turner Sunday.. . Ouite an unusual wedding tooh place last Saturday. Mr. Brunson Brown and Miss Fannie Joe Pool be ing united in the holy bonds of mat rimony. From some cause the pastor was not present at Hardison to fill the pulpit Sunday so there was no preaching. Ralph Turner. GINNERS NOTICE. A convention of the Ginners of the twelfth Congressional district, will be held in Dudlin, Ga. on Satur day June 14th, 1919 at 10:30 o’clock A. M. at the New Dublin Hotel. This convention will be held and conducted by the Georgia Ginners As sociation, and is the first of a series of conventions to be held, one in each Congi’essional district. The readjustment of conditions as effecting the cotton industry, iartic- ularly the ginning industry, makes it neccessary that the ginners main tain an active organization. Every Ginner, whether he be a memder of the Association or not, is invited and ui’ged to be present at this meeting. Your co-operation is confidently ex pected. Any one interested in the marketing and manufacture of cot ton as well as the public generally are invited to attend these conven tions. —Georgia Ginners Association. —Farm real estate in the vicinity of Perry continues active, and plans for several new residences and bus iness building will be reported soon, it is reported. — The Standard Basket Co. now has facilities for manufacturirig mar ket baskets and picking baskets and as well their oter product, and is ndw busily engaged in this new depart ment. —Material is on the ground and work of construction wall begin next week on the L.C.
