The Senior Class of Perry High
School was organized Monday
morning at the school, Mr. Hal
Gilbert was elected President and
Miss Jennie Lee Duncan Secretary,
and Treasurer, Miss Frances Ca
ter and Douglas Tounsley Publici
ty Committee.
There are 14 members of the
class divided as follows, eight girls
and six boys. They are: Misses
Fraces Cater, Jennie Lee Duncan,
Annie Wallace, Dorothy Brunson,
Dollie Kate Poole, Tommie Fae
Dorsey, Josephine Holloman and
Margaret Mann. Messrs Hal Gil
bert, Eugene Beckham, Douglas
Tounsley, Wyatt Kersey, Harris
Hardison and John Allen Hunt.
This is the third 11th grade Per
ry High has ever had and it is also
the largest, both the proceeding
classes consisting of eight- girls

—One day last week a lady in
Perry received a letter asking that
a specified quantity of white corn
meal be sent to a relative in De
troit, Mich. The meal was want’
ed for a patient in a hospital in
that city. It was stated by the
sender that white meal cannot be
secured in that city, and the yel
low meal obtainable is moi$ like
grits or hominy.

A meeting of the condidates
for this year's basket ball team
was held Monday. About fifteen
are anxious to play and some

hand. Only two members of last
year’s team are back. Mr Harris
Hardison and Clinton Hutto. Mr
Hal Gilbert was elected manager
and the election of a captain was
put off until the team has been
selected. Mr Gooden Coach,
thinks we will have one of the
best teams Perry has ever had.

School opened this morning at
the Wellstott High sehoolj with a
good attendance and with our
old friend Mr Joseph Gilbert, as
principal, evory thing points
toward a real good school this
term.
The General Association started
at the pleasant Hill, primitive
Baptist Church Tuesday.

DIED AT DINNER TAALE.
Mr- Hamlin A. Ragin, aged 64
years, died Tuesday while he and
his sisters were seated at the din
ner table.
The burial was in Evergreen
cemetery Wednesday afternoon.
He was born in Perry and was
the elder son of the late Colonel
and Mrs. John H. Ragin, who
came from South Carolina to Per
ry, Ga., in the early years of their
married life.
Surviving the elder brother are
two sisters and one brother, Miss'
es Mamie and Della Ragin and Mr
Edward Ragin.
He is also survived by a nephew
and niece in Atlanta, Mr. Sam
Giles and Miss Mary Giles.
This deceased, his brother and
sisters were a devoted family anc
lived much to themselves and the
estate, a residence and several
acres at Perry and a farm of sev
oral hundred acres near Myrtle has
never been divided.
To his sisters he was a most de
voted brother and to them ne was
noble and good. To friends here
his sudden death is a very great
shock.

profound sympathy of their-many
friends.

Mr E. B., Ginsburg announces
to friends and customers that he
wili establish a self serving grocery
store in Perry on October 1st. He
has leased- the store in the Ma
sonic Building in the rear of his
present dry goods store and the
place is now being equipped with
suitable fixtures for the Grocery
business. He announces that he
will carry a full line of staple and
fancy groceries at prices lowest
possible for cash.
The eutrace of the new store,
will be on Carrall Street and will
be connected with the present dry
good store.
