‘Master Criminal' Convhted Of Murdor
Los Angelos, Calif.—Herbert Wilson,
known by the police and federal oper-
atimi as a "master criminal" convict*
od of murdor of his pal, Herbert Cox,
escaped from ths county jail hero with
another convicted murderer, Adam
Ward, and Guido, Spiguola, held' on a
robbery charge. Wilson, armed with
a revolver, held up arid 3liot the gate-
man at tho jail, and than shot one of
the turnkeys and, taking the keys,
opened the doors to his liberty. The
authorities arc surs that they will
catch the men in a few days.

Woman Is Victim Of Flogging Mob
Jasper, Ala.—Sheriff Claud Guttery is
investigating the alleged whipping—
which has just come to light—of a
woman and two men near here one
night recently. The woman—a Mrs.
Rite—who had lately moved to Jasper'
with her family, is said to have been
the victim of the floggers. Reports to
the sheriff said the men whipped -are
William Inman, 21, and Jack Smith,
21. Inman and Smith, according to
these reports, had follpwed a party of
thirty men who had abducted and car
ried Mrs. Rite out of town, when they
were seized and severely beaten along
with thd woman.'
