Mr and Mrs L W Grant wete
made the happy parents of a little
daughter on march the (13ih) to
be called Mary Lee, her little
brothers were so proud of a sister
never before having this pleasure,
All planning such a bright future
for her in this life, but God knew
this old world was too full of dis
appointments for one of his chil
dren so pi^re as this. On November
25 th the death Angel came ' and
took the precious little darling
out of this world of suffering, she
having been a great sufferer for
five months.
It is a hard trial for parents to
bury their children, never to see
them again on earth; but such
has been the lot of many of us.
And for our comfort the blessed
gamor called little children to
Him and blessed them and said
“Suffer little children and forbid
them not to come unto me, for of
such is the Kingdom of Heaven.’’
He would say to the bereaved
ones, try to be reconciled to this
dispersation of Hod’s providence
toward you for while it is so sad
to give your little darling, up it
was God’s wisdom and was in-
finetly best f6v her. She has gone
to the spirit world and gloriously
triumphed over sin, sickness, pain
and death. She is nob dead but
gone before, and there she' awaits
yojir coming.
In this gloomy night of your
sorrow we hope tho lamps of
Heavenly promise will shine out
to cheer you onward aud upward
fer “Earth has no sorrow that
Heaven cannot heal.”
A Friend.

CARD OF THANKS
The model business is one in
which both sides win. Tho buyer
gets honest merchandise at a fair
price, and the seller receives full
value for his goods.
This is true co-operation and
promotes progress and friendship.
It is also true that both parties
to a business transaction seek i o
gain advantage over the other, in
price or value.
Such transactions promote noth
ing good and no community can
permanently prosper where such
practices prevail.
Producers of course desire ready
sale at profitable prices and the
merchants Would help themselves
•by helping^ the producers secure
buyers at reasonable prices.
By affording increased buying
of farm prodnetslihe demand for
such products is increased and the
general business of the town and
community grows proportionately.
When a town gains the reputa
tion of being a good market, the
growers acquire the habit of sell-
ing there. Selling there profitab
ly the^ will buy there. Buying
and selling at the same place cre
ates business friendship and co
operation, helps alike the sellers
and the buyers. This enlarges
prosperity for town and country,
and sure enough a situation where
both sides win and all are satisfied.
There is no , room fer graft
among such people and such con
ditions.
TJ'tFTY years ago a mathematical
+ marvel mystified audiences In small
towns in the United States.
He would walk up to a blackboard
and nslc people in the house to give
him two long numbers.
Given such numbers as 8,796,402,-
897 and 72,875,295,839 he would
place one below the other} announce
that lie would multiply them, and
write beneath them the answer.
No one understood bow he could' do
it. The people who beheld him gasped
in amazement at his powers. And he
went from town to town for several
weeks exciting wonder and admiration
till some skeptic in the audience took
the trouble to write down the numbers
and multiply them himself.
Then it wns discovered that the
lightning calculator never made a
multiplication at all, but merely wrote
an answer In the proper number of
units, which of course, wns invariably
wrong,
A telegram to the next town and
prompt action by the local authorities
put an end to the cnlculntorts career.
It is easy to work rapidly If you do
not work accurately, but It is of little
more use than wbro the labors of the
faker in the story.
In this wo'rld of progress men must
work both accurately nnd rapidly to
get ahead, but they must cultivate ac
curacy first.
Millions are lost in Industry every
year through mistakes nnd careless
ness of people who try to work faster
thnn they can with care.
In every business accuracy Is the
first consideration. When, either in
figuring, or in writing, or In any line
of endeavor you are sure thnt you can
be accurate, it Is safe to cultivate
speed.
But never work so fast that you are
not sure you are getting down the
right answers to your problem. Bet
ter creep for a while than fall every
time you attempt to run.
Facility will come with practice, but
facility Is worse than useless If it
means blundering.
The quick men are valuable, of
course, but they are never judged for
their speed alone. If their work
doesn’t check up, they hold their posi
tions but a little while.
