London.—The situation'in the near
east has taken an ominous tnrn as
the conference at Lausanne remains
deadlocked. Reports from Athens say
Turkish Nationalist troops of Musta-
pha Kemal are concentrating to at
tack Constantinople and the Mosul oil
regions, following refusal of the allies
to adopt the Turkish position on oil
concessions and judicial capitulations.
One Kemalist force has arrived at Djia-
mart, another is advancing toward the
Tigris and a third preparing to con
centrate at Adabazar.
