He will represent the Fruit Growers Express at Mar shallville during the peach season. —The many friends of Mr and Mrs S G Rogers and family regret to learn that they will leave Perry to make their home in Marshall- villa about July 1st. NOTICE The Civic Improvement Club will meet Thursday afternoon June 14th at the City A,uditorim. A marriage of interest here was that of Miss Ruth Ponder to Mr. S L Norwood .lr , which -was solemnized at the home of the bride's parents in Forsyth last Thursday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock Tho ring ceremony was used, Rev. Sullivan of the Methodist church of Forsyth officiating. There were no regular ' attend- ents and only members of the families and |n few close friends witnessed tho ceremony. Mr. Fel ton Norwood brother of the groom and Mr Sam A Nunn attended from Perry. Soon after thO cere mony the happy couple loft for a motor trip to Atlanta and points in tho mountains of North Caro lina. Both the bride and groom are well kuown and popular in Perry. The brido is a daughter of M* and Mrs J O Ponder of Forsyth and during tho past year was a teach er in the High School here. The groom, the eldest son of Mr and Mrs. S L Norwood of Perry is tho representative of the Gulf Re fining Co., in this territory. Both parties hare many friends who extend congratulations and hearty good wishes. On their return to Perry they will be at home to their friends at the R L Marchman resident. UNEEDA MOVEMENT NEAR END A considerable crop of Uneedas in this section has been shipped from Perry during the past week and the movement will coatini • throug hte present week| , It is oxpeoted that the shippment of this variety will be practically ceased by tho end of this week, Forty-two solid cars have been shipped from this point so far and tho total of the Unecda verities according to estimates will be forty-nine cars. The oarly varieties nre about twelve days lute this year and shipments to date full shortof ship, ments at this time last year, though it is expected that the crop for the season will be larger than last year. Small shippments of the Early Rose variety were made this week Thoro will probably be a lull in tho shippmont the firBt two or three days of next week until the Cornells and a few other varieties nob numerous in this section, be gin to move, After next week the rash will begin and is expected to continue to the end of the season. J. E. HASLAM, SR. J. E. Haslam, Sr, one of tho most prominent ; citizens of Mar shallvill died early Saturday morn ing aftar a lingering illness with heart trouble. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 4 o’clock. Mrs. Haslam, four sons and two daughters survive him. Several grand-children aho survive. 14o was born aud grew to man hood in Houston County, about 8 miles west of Perry.
