Clifford Walker with fitting
ceremony was inaugurated Govner

His inaugural address was heard
by thousands ami his pledgo for

^general approval of thoso who

Tax reform to which his admin*

^touched upon in his address, and
da a reform in which the peoplo of
xthe state at this time over vitally

On this subject tho Governor in

As the proportion of intangible
property increased, dissatisfaction
with the old system grew until nob
fairminded men agree that it is no
longer tolerable- Indeed, this was
generally recognized as far back
as ten years ago, when an Act of
the Legislat ure, commonly known
as the Tax Equalization Law, was
passed, in an effort to relieve the
situation by disiribufcing the burd*
ens of taxation more equitably.

Tax Equalization Law and it
should be repealed, because its
history for the past ten years clear
ly demonstrates that until repeal

cal peace, harmony, or unity,
among the people, a stato of mind
a public sentiment, so necessary to
the constructive program of pro
gress which by common impulse
of tho people seems practicaly as

course, promptly turn its attention
to the enactment of a more satis
factory substitute before it com
pletes the labors of the yoar.
