CRIMNAL SESSION CITY COURT
The crimnal dockot of the City
Court was taken up Monday and
a number of misdemenor cases
disposed of, a majority of the
casus being charges for the violat
ing the prohibition law Not all
the cases were tried by jury

$25,00; Zeke Wimberly guilty
carrying concealed weapons sen
tenced six months or $50.00; Jim
nkins guilty of larceny sentence

months or fine of $25.00. Earnest
Bryant charged with assult and
battery settled by paying cost
Ghicken Rcott guilty of larceny
sentenced six months or fine
$60.00. William Gheeves guilty of
violating prohibition law sen
tenced three months or $10.00
Johnnie Lane guilty of larceny
sentence six months or $60.00
Paul Joyner a white man guilty
of violating prohibition law sen
tenced six months or $75.00, Jess
Hester white man guilty of violat
idg prohibition law and carrying
concealed weapons sentenced six
months or $75.00 in each case
Leon Doles, white,guilty of violat
ing prohibition law, sentenced one
month and 2 months additional or
fine of $50.00. Bonds were forfeit
ed in the eases of Chas Knight
and Mary Jordan both charged
with violating the prohibition law
Court adjourney Monday after
noon but was in session Wednes
day to dispose of cases left over
from both the criminal and civil
docket.
MEETING AT SHILOH
Rev. J W Lilly of Guyton Ga.,
will assist Rev* J E Summer in
revival meetings beginning at
Shiloh Methodist churbh, Sep
tember 23rd at 3:00 p. m. and
the Methodist 17:00 p. in. on Sunday and 11:00
in about two a. m. and 7:00 p. m. on week days
following. The meeting will em
brace the fifth Sunday in Septem
ber, members please note. Public

The hospitable conulry home
was lovely with its abundance of
fail flowers.
During the afternoon a delight
ful salad course was served by
Misses, Steela Duncan, Laura
Gilbert, Georgia Ruth .Harris,
Catherine Crewel and Martha Sue
Woolfolk.
About seventy-five guests called
between tho hours of 3:30 and 5:00

A BOLD BURGLARY ATTEMPT
John Parker, a local negro, was
caught Sunday after an attempt to
enter the drug store office of D r .
B L Cater in broad daylight.
The negro, thinxiiig the office
unoccupied at the time, prized
open the window and-was in the
act of entering when discovered '
by Dr. Cater who was busy with a
patient in fiis Offid'h.'-
The negro was easily recognized
and was later caught and is now
under bond charged with attempt
burglary.

The Board of Education of
Houston County will sell, subject
to approval at public outcry all of
the building material now on
hand, consisting of rough lumber
flooring, roofers, slag and about
ten thousand hard brick,

on the school grounds at Center
ville on September 22, 1923 at
