THE UNIVERSAL CA3
Changes featured in the new Ford Sedan make it a better look
ing, roomier car.
A higher radiator with a trim apron at its bass lends dignity
befitting a closed car. The higher hood and enlarged cowl
curving gracefully to the dash, give a stylish sweep to its body
lines, and afford additional leg room for occupants of the front
seat.
All body fittings—window regulators, .door grips, door latch
levers, door lock, dome light—ore finished in nickel. The
upholstery carries a fine dark line on a soft brown background
that does not easily show dust or dirt. Silk window curtains

“Many farmers near Alberta,
Canada, have small mines of lig
nite on their own farms, so the fut
el problem, which is so acute in
America, is hardly known there,”
said James A Nowell, president of
one of the largest coal and coke
companies in St. Paul, Minn.,who
is-at the Hotel Pennsylvania.“Our
mine, the Crow’s Nest PaBS Coal
Mine, in British Columbia, is rich
in steam coal, but east of us, all
around Alberta, are these mines
of lignite. It can be mined only
from August to the Spring, be
cause its extreme softness prevent
i t being kept in storage.'
“Canada does not have to con
tend with as many strikes as does
the United States. The reason
for this is the Conciliation act,
which was passed during the Lau
rier Administration. This act
(provides that in cases where the
laboring men of an organization
are on strike either the men them
selves or the employers fnay call
for a conciliation board.. One is
elected to represent the striking
men, one is chosen by the employ-,
ers and the third is supposed to
fee the choice of both parties. In
eases, however, where the oppos
ing parties cannot agree on the
third member of the board, word
is sent to Ottowa and the Domin
ion Government appoints him.
“The decision arrived at by the
Conciliation Board in conference
is supposed to be accepted by both
the employers and the employes.
In the majority of cases it is, and
because of this amicable way of
settling the dispute, strikes in
Canada are, as a rule, short
lived.” X

ing the same land described in a deed
from P D Willingham and P D Willing
ham, Jr., to B B Willingham, and duly
recorded in the Clerk’s Office of Houston
Superior Court, book 14, folio 332. The
reason for making said application is
that said ward owns only an undivided
one sixth (1-6) interest, the said lands
are. expensive and troublesome to keep
tip and yield only a very uncertain and
variable income, and the other owners
desire to sell the same.
