A. wedding of cordial interest in
Houston county and elsewhere
was that of Miss Dewey Sloeurab
and Mr. William H. Walter?, of
TiftOD, Ga., which took place at

bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.
L. Slocuinb, in Kathleen, o n
Wednesday, Jan 21.
The home was beautifully
decorated with Southern smilax,
palms, white hyacinths and nar
cissi. An arch of smilax with hy
acinths suspended at- intervals on
it and a back ground of palms
formed a beautiful scene for the
weddiag party.
Preceding the ceremony, Mrs.
DuBose, of Macon sang two beau
tiful love songs.
To the strains of Mendelssohn's
wedding march, played by Mrs.
L. B. Sasser, of Bonaire, the bri
dal party entered. First came
the maid of honor. Miss Susie Mae
Thompson, of Perry, beautiful in a
peach colored silk and carryiag
f>ink rosebuds.Theneame the little
flower girl, Camilla Sasser, of Baa-1
?ire, draased in pink crepe de
chine, and scattering pink rose
petals.
Tks bride entered with her
father, Mr. G. L. Sloeumb, and
they wera met at the altar by the
?reom and his best man, Mr. Fal*
wood, of Tiftoa, Ga.
The bride was lavely in a browa
oloth ensemble suit with aeees
sories to Batch. Her flowers were
bride's rasas skewered with white

Following the ceremony, a salad
course and poach were served.

WASHOUTS HOLD UP WIG
ON MANY ROADS
The continued rains lasting
through Monday, stopped traffic
ou the principal highways and
railroads into this couuty snd
rendered automobile traffic almost
impossible. Swolleu streams, and
washout of roads and bridges
practically isolated this section
fox three days.
The Dixie and National High
ways south were impossible on
Sunday and Monday and tourist
who were lucky enough to itet as
far as Perry and wished to go on
were direeted to tako rouud about
routes.
Garage men have beeu busy
polling unfortunate tourist out of
the mud on the highways.
Due to a washout of the Central
Railroad between Byron and Fort
Valley on Sunday night Ferry re
ceived no mail from the north on
Monday and up to Tuesday night.
Traffic over the G S & F was also
held up dne to washed out track
near Vienna,
We are not advised as to the
full extent of damage to roads and
bridges in Houston but reports
indicate that consider able work
will be required to get them in
normal condition again.
With the coming of sunshine
Tuesday morning repair work got
under way and the roads will be
put in condition just as quickly
as possible. In the mean time the
highway men and travelers hops
for a season of sunshine.
