Wells Hotel with Mrs. F. E. Nor
wood, Mrs. Laura Killen, Mrs.
Nora E. Cox. widows of Veterans
and Mrs. N. C. Wellons.
The Confederate Monument on
the Public Square, the Speaker's
Staud at the Cemetery aud all
soldiers' grave were artistically
decorated with flowers and Con
federate flags.
At Evergreen Cemetery, 3:30 p.

his bearers. Strong, masterful,
tender, humorous, it rang through
our Historic Old Cemetery, a clear
call to the loyalty of the Present
and the Future, a soug of Praise
to the Past.
Miss Bailey's rendition of Kip
ling's "Recessional'' wasexquisite.
Robert E. Lee's favorite hymn
ascended as Praise to God from
the voices of those whose notes
ever hold a deeper tone where
thoughts of the brave Confederate
Leader fill their hearts.

home to her hearers how beautiful
a thing it is when one generation
is honored by the courage of the
succeeding.

Cross of Service to Mrs. S. A.
Nunn, honored citizen of our town
and son of the late George C.
Nuun revered as a brave Confed
erate Soldier.
At the close of the exercises
Mrs. R, L. Caier, addressing the
Veterans, promised Ihem that
Houston County Veterans should
have a tablet to their memory in
the great Stone Mountain Me
morial Hall resting the promise on
the fact that the Daughter's of
the Confederacy were going to do
it because the men were going to
do it for them.
All occasions which now honor
the Cause of the Sixties brings to
mind thoughts of the great Stone
Mountain Monument which
through the able management of
the men and women of the South
will stand forth as the woaderfal
achievement in sculpture of this
or any age.

education of the youth of the land?

prayer, but would give of what he

erate Host. For this message. Stone
Mountain has been waiting through
all the ages. May every Southern
heart respond to the carving of the
message.
It will not be of War the cen
turies to come will think when
looking on this message, it will be
of the indomitable courage of a
people who wrested sunshine from
the blackness of defeat and crown
ed their nhildren wilh its rays, the
glory of a race of men who
against all odds held the soil
of their forefathers as their birth
right and from their own hands
are able to tarn it over in this atie
of progress higher development. It
will be of a race of men who mad?
possible the education of the youth
of today, who made it possible for
the prayer of the little childrea
to ascend at even tide from the
knee of saored Motherhood by the
hearth fire of our Southern Home,
sacred and inviolate to the Ood
who made them.
