SUPERIOR COURT IN SESSION
Houston Superior Court began
its October session Monday morn
ing with Judge Malcolm Jones
presiding.
The grand jury, after the charge
frem the court organised with J.
H. Clarke, Foreman and C. E. An
drew, Clerk. Up to Wednesday
afternoon 49 true bills and 19 no
bills had been returned.
Among the important Civil
Cas^s tried so far this week were:
Tucker & Walton vs W. E. Wimpey
et al(tried before Judge Mathews)
won by defendant. Lowry Black
well vs C. A? Thurmond von by
defendant; Ga, Cotton Growers
Assn. vs-J. B. Bryan, won by de

were taken in eight cases and
settlement of several others on the
Calendar reported. The case of W.
O. Kinney & Co vs W. A. and
Marie Dunbar was in the course
of trial Thursday.
The Criminal Calendar will be

pointed Game and Fish Warden of
Houston County, he havinjr re
ceived this commission from State
Commissioner, Peler S. Twitty on
October 1st.
One of the important provisions
of the game "law as pointed out by
the Commissioner is the necessity
of securing a license to hunt. To
hunt without a license anywhere
except on the owner's own farm is
a violation of the law.

CHURCH NEWS
BAPTIST
The Rehoboth Association will
meet at Houston Factory Baptist
Church ou next Tuesday and
Wednesday,October 13th and I4tb.
The Baptist people of Perry are
expected to help in entertaining
the Association and are invited to
attend the meetings and carry
basket lunch.

entertained the Beginners and
Primary Department of the San
day school at the Church last
Saturday afternoon.

The union song service at the;
Methodist church was so enjoy-;
able an occasion thai it has been 1

regular monthly event. The song
service will be held next at the
Baptist Church on the first Sun
day in November.

The Y. W. A. met last Monday
in the Fidelis class room. They
had a large attendance and an in ,
tere8tiug program.
Mrs. Tom Cater gave a very in
teresting talk on "Ways of Win-}
ning."
After the meeting a social hour
was enjoyed by all. Delicious
sandwiches and punch were served.1

religious gathering together of
men and women to praise and

GROVANIA P. T A. MEETING
The Parent Teacher Association
of Grovauia held its second meet
ing of the fall Friday afternoon
September 25 at four o'clock at
the school. There was a goodly
number present. Mrs. S.J. Ellis
President, presided. The officers'
reports and minutes of last meet
ing were given.
As there was no special speak
er for the afternoon the meeting
was strictly business, a good deal
being plauned and discussed.
With a splendid corps of teach
ers the whole out-look is towards
better work along all lines. The
people of the community should ;
cooperate with the teachers and
the P. T. A. president in making
Grovaniaone of the best schools in
the county.
The meetings witf be held the
fourth Friday afternoon of each
month, All parents are urged to be
present.
There being no other business
the meeting adjourned. The mem
bers then enjoyed a social half
hour during which light refresh
ments were served.
