HOUSTON MAN DROWNS
AT MACON PARK
J. C. Scarborough, 25,-128 Park
Place, baggage master employed
by the Georgia Southern & Florida
Kail way, was drowned in the lake
at Recreation Park shortly before
noon Tuesday. Scarborough went
oil a 30 foot high dive in l."> feet of
water and failed ro come to the
surface again. * His body was not
recovered until after 30 minutes'
search by swimmers.
The body)was recovered by Jack
Bright, Mercer student, who has
only one arm. Bright said that
lie found the body on the bottom
of the lake m a mud bank.

The funeral took place at
o'clock Tuesday afternoon from
the residence of his mother, Mrs.
J. B, T. Searboruogh, near Wells
ton, Ga. Rev. J. Li. Hunt, of
Perry conducted the service. In

IMPRESSIVE SERVICE HELD AT
METHODIST CHURCH SUNDAY
A beautiful and impressive
service was held at the Methodist
Gjiurch last Sunday morning when
memorial choirs were presented to
the church by the Dasher and
Houser families in memory of
their mothers, Mrs. Mary Giles
Dasher and Mrs. Mary Houston
Houser.
Kov. W. K. Dennis,, of Fort
Ga'iies. Ga., a former pastor of
this.church, made beautiful and
touching remarks on the influence j
of godly mothers.
Mr. Ben J. Dasher, of Macon,'
son of Mrs. Mary Giles Dasher,
presented the chair given as a
memorial to his mother by her
children. Mo paid his mother lov
ing' tribute, an;l said that the
memory of her Christian life was
a great inspiration for good to hor
child ren.
Mr. Fred Holmes Houser, of At
lanta, presented tlje chair in
memory of his mother. Mrs. Mary
Houston Houser. He told of the
love that he ami the other mem
ber's of this family have for Perry
and the old church -the church
of their sainted mother.
Rev. J. K. I ?aru hill, pastor of
the church, accepted these hand
pome pulpit t hairs in behalf of the

ANOTHER OIL COMPANY ESTABLISHES
AGENCY HERE
The Pan-American Oil Com
pany has established a distribut
ing agency here and appointed a
representative to sed their pro
duct in Perry and Houston County.
The company is now erecting
two iarge tanks and building a
storage warehouse on the railroad
right of way near the city limits
and will be ready for business in
a short while.
