BEGGING YOUR PARDON IN ADVANCE, ma’am, but how
much pull is there on YOUR back garters? Seven and a half pounds
is average when the wearer is seated or bending over, according to a
scientific study made by a prominent corsetiere. And remembering
that seven-and-a-half-pound pull, it’s no wonder that she advises,
“Use good, strong thread for sewing on garters. Not all thread of
the same number is of equal strength, so it pays to look on the end
of the spool for the words: J. 8t P. Coats best 6-cord.”
