Mrs. George Roberts, Dallas, Texas, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A.C.Cobb for the weekend. Rev. and Mrs, J. A. Ivey en tertained the board of Deacons of the Perry Baptist church at dinner Friday evening at the Pastorium. Mrs. Gassett and daughter, Christie, of Alapaha, Ga., are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walton. Dr. and Mrs. P. H. Christian, St. Marys, Ga., arrived Wednes day to spend several days with his mother, Mrs. T. M. Chris tian, and sister, Mrs. L. F. Cater. Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Edwards, Jr,, Macon, spent from Thurs day thru Saturday last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Edwards. Mrs. M. M. Rainey, Misses Florine and Aubrey Rainey, Mrs. J. K. Fudge, and Doris Hane visited Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Rainey in Cordele Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Houser Edwards and granddaughter, Elaine, Fort Valley, visited relatives here Sunday. Mrs. Mayo Davis returned Wednesday from Dothan, Ala. where she went Tuesday to car ry her daughter, Billie Davis, to visit Billie’s grandmother, Mrs, F M. Gaines, for several weeks. Mrs. Davis will leave today (Thursday) for Sumter, S. C. to join Mr. Davis for a visit there. WARREN HODGE HAS BEAUTIFUL TEA Marked by beautiful decora tive effects was the tea given bv Mrs. Warren Hodge Friday af ternoon at the American Legion club in honor of Mrs. Malcolm Dean, a recent bride, and Miss Elizabeth Buff, a bride-elect of August. Forming the receiving line were the hostess, the honorees, Mrs. J. N. Buff, and Mrs. J. W. Hodge. Assisting in receiving were Mrs. Wendell Whipple, Mrs. Fel ton Norwood, and Mrs. Lewis Houser. Those serving the ice course were: Mrs. C. F. Cooper, Mrs. E. I. Holmes, Mrs. Joe Bedding field, Mrs. B. H. Newberry, Mrs. Eugene Beckham, Mrs. Allen Pritchett, Mrs. Mayo Davis. Mrs. Louis Gilbert, and Mrs. Phil An derson. Presiding at the two punch bowls were: Misses Rebecca Grace, Jean Brown, and Carolyn Coleman, and Mrs. Coleman Hodge. The tea table was overlaid with a lace cloth and centered with an arrangement of gladioli. Sil ver holders with white tapers and dishes of mints were placed at intervals on the table. Dahlias, roses, and other gar den flowers in pastel shades were arranged throughout the recep tion rooms. 150 guests called between 5:30 and 7 o’clock. - N LIBRARY NOTES “Next to Valor,” by James Jennings, is a current novel of distinction.
