HOME DEMONSTRATION LADIES VISIT
POINTS OF INTEREST AT GRIFFIN, GA.
By MRS. J. D. WOOD
Houston HD Council President
Home Demonstration Women
believe in the good neighbor pol
icy, and to prove it, we went sight
seeing to Griffin to the various
industries there and to the experi
ment station. Mrs. W. D. Henson,
Mrs. Allen Stone, Mrs. W. J. Mc-
Gee and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Wood
took this trip last Friday.
The Home Demonstration Club
ladies up there knew we were
coming and they and their agent,
Miss Bobbie Jackson, had arrang
ed a most delightful day for us.
We went first to their Rural
Urban Center in the basement of
the courthouse. To see this and to
realize what it means to the Home
Demonstration women and the 4-H
boys and girls was worth the trip.
There is a large well-lighted room,
with refrigerator, sink, stove and}

Where do 14 million Americans go to save?
Americans save in lots of places. But a
definite and very important trend is now
taking place: Every day, more and more
people are opening savings accounts in
nsure4 Savings and Loan Associations.
In fact, Americans are now putting more
of their savings account dollars in these
Associations than anywhere else I
here are several very simple reasons why
this is so:
ONE—Your savings earn excellent returns.
Vou make money because the Associations
invest most of their funds in sound, steady
paying home mortgages.
I’WO—You enjoy complete safety. Your
savings are protected by good management
and substantial reserves. They are insured

ly raised platform and the other
part of the room is fitted with
tables, chairs, a piano and other
comforts. It is so nice for the
ladies and the young people to
have their own assembly place.
Can’t Houston county do as well?
They had arranged for us to go
to the Dovedown Hosiery Mills
first. This was quite fascinating to
see how nylons are made; then
back to the Rural Urban Center
for a most delightful lunch. We
carried picnic lunches and they
had picnic lunches, too, along with
iced tea. We took off then to the
Experiment Station. Mr. Stacey
and others showed us around and
told us of the many things they 1
do there in research. Then to the i
Dundee Towel Mills. I’m sure each i
of us has more respect for our 1
bath cloths and towels now that
we’ve seen the intricate processes
' of weaving, spinning, dyeing, etc.

an important place—and a
mighty good place to do
business.

The employees were very cour
teous, and showed us all over the
plant.
The ladies had arranged a visit
to a pheasant farm, also a bulb
raising farm, but time ran out and
we had to leave. We will remem
ber our trip and the graciousness
of our sister club women for a
long time. We expect them to visit
Houston county on Achievement
Day in September.

THREE—These Associations are local or
ganizations, managed by responsible, ex
perienced people of your own community.
They give friendly, prompt and convenient
service.

and Loan Associations can be a big help
to you: When you’re thinking of buying a

PERFORMER! 1
Yes siree, folks! . . .
The Top Performer, for anybody's Jf
money, is Electric Power! . . . '
Whether it be cooking, pumping, heating, cooling, washing, drying or
lighting ... whatever the job to be done ... electricity does it cheaper,
cleaner, and more efficiently!... truly our best budget bargain.
And for us members of the Flint Electric Membership Corporation our
Electricity is especially a bargain, because our Electric Power is brought
to us at cost.
And how does this work? . . .
I
Well, the business management of our Co-op, made up of our President,
and the Directors, with a trained Manager to supervise the day to day
operation, has established a rate as low as possible for Electric Serv
ice . . then, at the end of a year of operation, we check up, and
whatever is left over above our cost of operation is put into a special
fund which will one day come back to us in the form of a refund ...
Just as the members "belong" to the Co-op, so does the Co-op belong to
the members . . . it's a good way to do business.
