CAPTAINS AND OFFICIAL MEET IN CENTER OF FIELD BEFORE GAME
Bridges, No. 22, and Fain, 34, Warner Robins ends, and Raymond Howard, No. 17, and
Earl Lewis, No. 34, were co-captains for Robins and Perry in last Friday night’s big game. In
the center is Referee Roy Poole, who could easily see that these boys meant business.
Play-by Play
Os Pig Game
Warner Robins won the toss and
elected to receive from the west
goal. James Lasseter left-footed
the kickoff to Troy Shuttlesworth,
who was stopped quickly, but the
play was called back and Perry
penalized 5 yards for offsides on
the kickoff. Lasseter again kicked
and Shuttlesworth was halted at
his 32. Shuttlesworth made a yard
at tackle. Fullback Ray Stokes
made 2 up the middle. Shuttles*
worth carried around right end
for 9 yards and a first down on the
44 Virgil Peavy broke through
and stopped Stokes for a 3-yard
loss.
Warner Robins fumbled and
Perry recovered on the 35 yard
line of Warner Robins.
Raymond Howard hit the cen
ter for a yard. Percy Hardy made
5 on a tackle slant.. Peavy made 3
yards in the center. With 1 yard to
go, Peavy didn't quite make it and i
Robins took over on the 25.
Robins was penalized for illegal :
motion in the backfield. A Robns
back fumbled and G. H. Duck
worth of Perry recovered. Hardy
went throng the line for 3 yards,
down to the Robins 12. A Perry
halfback fumbled and Robins re
covered on the 10 yard line.
Stokes hit the line for 2 and 3
yards and then failed to gain on
the third play. Ford received the
Warner Robins punt on the Robins
38. Howard was thrown for an 8
yard loss on and end run, then
picked up 4 in the line. Hardy
went 8 yards, tout an offside pen
alty nullified the gain. David i
Moulder, back to kick, got a bad 1
pass and was forced to fall on the 1
ball. On fourth down, he kicked
out to the Perry 42 yard line as the
first quarter ended.
Stokes piled through the line for
6 yards, and then Louis Beck took
off for 12 yards but the play was
called back and Robins penalized
15 yards for clipping. It was se
cond down and 23 to go at their
26.
A pass to End Fain of Warner
Robins squirted put of his hands.
Another pass intended for End
Polk was Incomplete. Robins kick
ed and Julian Kersey received it
on the 25 yard line and went all
the way for a touchdown, running
over to the mirth sideline and
cutting back behind some excell
ent blocking. Perry 6, Robins 0.
Lasseter kicked off and halfback
Beck on his own 24 yard line took
off on a touchdown jaunt that left
the crowd breathless. Beck was the
third man to take the handoff af
ter the kick. Score 7-6.
Hardy received at his 20 yard
line and returned the kickoff 17
yards to the 37. Howard made 3 in
the line. Hardy picked up 5 and
was 1 foot short of a first dowm.
Perry was offside on the next
play and penalized 5 yards. Moul
der kicked down to the Robins 26
yard line and Beck returned it to
the 36. Shuttlesworth made 1 and
Beck went 4. James Malone took
off for 20 yards and a first down
at Perry’s 42. Stokes made 9 on
the next play and Malone got an
other first down at the 28. Malone
fumbled but recovered, losing on
ly 1 yard. Beck made the 1 yard
back but Shuttlesworth lost it
back again. A Robins pass was in
complete and Perry took over on
the 30. Hardy went 9 yards off

caught it and ran it back 10 yards.

Duckworth had shaken the ball
loose with a vicious tackle of Hud
son. The play was called back,
however, and Robins took the pen
alty of 15 yards instead of the
play. It was a penalty for un
necessary roughness. A Robins
pass was incomplete and the De
mons punted. •
Gene Ford received the punt
but slipped on the wet grass be
fore he could get away. Peavy
crashed into the line for 2 yards.
Jimmy Beatty kept the ball and
made two at right end, Howard
; could get only 2 at the line and
Moulder kicked. The punt play
was nullified and Robins penaliz
ed 15 for roughing the kicker. A
Robins tackle broke through and
1 caught Hardy tor a 3 yard loss.
1 Kersey couldn’t gain and it was

the 1 foot line. Shuttlesworth went
over for the TD and fumbled. The
officials ruled that he fumbled
; after crossing the goal line. Perry
fans didn’t see it that way but
that’s football. Perry 7, Robins 12.
Shuttlesworth went around left
end for the extra point. Perry 7,
Robins 13.
Abslon kicked off for Robins and
Hardy received for Perry, driving
straight up the middle for 25 yards
before he was stopped. The offi
cials signalled 4 minutes to go.
Beatty was rushed and Morgan in
-1 tercepted his pass intended for
1 Hartley. He was tacked on his own

and the majorettes of both schools marched together before
the game and during the halftime intermission, demonstrate
