Soil Conservation
BY JACK MILLER
Charlie Kersey of the Hender
son community, cooperating with
the Ocmulgee Soil Conservation
District, was assisted recently in
surveying an additional 7,900 lin
ear feet of terraces on his farm
farm northwest of Henderson.
Charlie is constructing his ter
races with his farm equipment.
Over the years we have assisted
Charlie in surveying and construc
ting many miles of terraces on
his farms. He was giving his old
terraces a good plowing up the
other day.
Assisted J. H. Davis and Son i
in developing a basic soil and
water conservation plan on their
farm northeast of Lake Joy re
cently. The farm is being utilized
for the production of timber crops.
District cooperator Jerry A. Da
vis, Jr. was assisted lately in de
veloping a basic soil and water
conservation plan for his newly
acquired farm south of Hayne
villc. Jerry is devoting the farm
to the production of timber crops
and Sericea Lespedeza.
Tom Chapman of the Perry com
munity was assisted last week in
developing a basic soil and water
conservation plan for his farm lo
cated south of Perry on U. S.
Highway 41.
District cooperator E. P. Hollan
of the Perry community whose
farm is located west of Perry on
the Marshallville road, was assis
ted this week in constructing a
farm pond. One of our local farm
contractors built the pond. Erville
will use his pond primarily for
livestock water and incidentally
for the production of fish. It will
