i Forrester Hits
Anti-Robins Bill
Congressman E. L. Forrester of
the Third Georgia District advised
this newspaper this week that he
“vigorously" opposes a bill which
would restrict operations of War
i ner Robins Air Materiel Area in
maintenance and repair of mili
tary aircraft.
Congressman Heistand of Cali
fornia has introduced a bill “to
restrict military aircraft mainte
nance, overhaul and modification
functions in government-operated
facilities to performance of strict
ly military requirements that can
not be procured from private en
terprise.”
Mr. Forrester said the Depart
ment of Defense has submitted an
adverse report on the Heistand
bill and the House Committee on
Armed Services has not scheduled
any hearings on the bill, which
was reintroduced this session.
He said he will continue to op
pose the bill if this bill, and an
other similar measure of Mr. Hei
stand, are presented to the House.
He said he has received very hea
vy mail opposing the measures
from the people in his district.
Some people connected with
Warner Robins Air Materiel Area
have said that passage of the bill
would mean “the closing” of
WRAMA.
