der, 29. whose wife, Ethel, lives in
Lexington, N. C., recently was
named Non-Commissioned Officer
of the Month for the 4th U. S.
Army Missle Command in Korea.
A rocket-launcher-section chief
in Battery A of the command’s
42nd Artillery, he was selected for
his soldierly appearance, know
ledge and performance of duties
and military courtesy.
Sergeant Felder entered the Ar
my in November 1948 and arrived
overseas in September 1959 on
this tour of duty.
His mother, Hattie Wright, lives
at 1310 Spring St., Perry, Ga.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. Richard A.
Farr Jr., airman, USN, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Richard A. Farr Sr., of
Route 2, Perry, graduated May 27,
from the Aviation Familiarization
School at the Naval Air Technical
Training Center, Memphis, Tenn.
The two week course prepares
students for further training in
one of aviation’s many technical
fields.

Davis Jr., 35, son of Mrs. Rosa

recently was awarded the Expert
Infantryman Badge while assigned
to the 24th Division’s 21st Infantry
in Germany.
Sergeant Davis successfully
completed a series of difficult
; tests concerning his knowledge of
such military subjects as signal
| communications, chemical-biologi
i cal-radiological warfare, first aid,
field sanitation, map and compass
; reading, military intelligence, in
fantry weapons and night patrol
ing.
The sergeant, a squad leader in
the infantry’s Company D, enter
ed the Army in 1943 and arrived
overseas on this tour of duty in
June 1958.
He is a 1943 graduate of Geor
gia Baptist College High School.
His father lives in Perry, The ser
geant’s wife, Carllie, is with him
in Germany.

Team; a member of Beta Club in
1959- and he was president of
the FFA during the same year.
He will serve an apprenticeship
for three years to become a licen
sed funeral director and embalm
er.
