said note and said deed to secure
debt together with the property
described therein, and conveyed
thereby were assigned and trans
ferred by Stockton, Whatley, Da
vin & Company to Charlestown
Savings Bank, said transfer being
recorded in Deed Book 99, page
423, Clerk’s Office, Houston Su
perior Court; and
Whereas, said deed to secure
debt provides that in the event of
the default of said John L. Key
in the payment of the monthly
installments due on said note se
cured thereby, the holder of said
note and of said deed to secure
debt may declare the entire in
debtedness secured thereby im
mediately due and payable; and
Whereas, the said John L. Key
did default in the payment of the
installment due on said note on
January 1, 1960, and the subse
quent installments, becoming due
on the first day of each month
thereafter, and by reason of said
default and under and by virtue
of the power of sale contained in
said deed to secure debt the un
dersigned, Charlestown Savings
Bank, has declared the entire in
debtedness represented by said
deed to secure debt due and pay
able;
NOW THEREFORE, because of
said default and under and by vir
tue of power of sale contained in
said deed to secure debt the un
dersigned, Charlestown Savings
Bank, as Attorney in Fact for
John L. Key, will sell during the
legal hours of sale, before the
Court House Door of Houston
County, Georgia, the County in
which said real estate is situated,
to the highest bidder for cash, on
the first Tuesday in July, 1960;
same being the sth day of July,
1960; the following real estate de
scribed in and conveyed by said
deed to secure debt, to-wit:
All that lot or parcel of land ly
ing and being in Land Lot 202 in
the Fifth Land District of Houston
County, Georgia, and in the City of
Warner Robins, same being known
and designated as Lot No. 8 in
Block R of the subdivision known
as Northview Extension No. 2, ac
cording to a plat of survey of said
subdivision made by Rhodes Se
well, State Surveyor No. 160, on
July 24, 1954, a copy of said plat
being of record in Map Book 3,
page 191, Clerk’s Office, Houston
Superior Court. Said plat and the
record thereof are hereby made
a part of this description by re
ference thereto.
A dwelling house and other im
provements being located on said
land together with one Gas Space
Heater, being a fixture and part
of the realty and conveyed by
said deed to secure debt.
A fee simple deed will be exe
cuted by the undersigned to the
purchaser at said sale.
The proceeds of sail sale will be
applied as provided in the afore
said deed to secure debt.

said indebtedness due and payable

said deed and the note secured

Malcolm Reese, new secretary
manager of the Perry Federal Sav
ings and Loan Association, arrived
this week to assume his new du
ties. He comes to Perry from the
Fitzgerald Savings and Loan As
sociation. He and his wife and two
children have purchased a home
on Elizabeth Street.

Brotherhood Hears
Experiences of Boys
A dozen members of the Royal
Ambassadors, boys’ missionary
group of the First Baptist Church,
told of their experiences at Camp
Pinnacle when they appeared in
formally before the Baptist Bro
therhood Tuesday night.
The boys, with Mrs. Gayle as
their local leader, talked about
camp life and religious training.
Miss Patsy Todd and Miss Pat
Adams sang three numbers, ac
companied by Mrs. Emmitt Akin
at the piano. Courtney Mason was
the program chairman.
Jerry Willis has accepted a po
sition as councellor at Camp Se
quoyah, Weaverville, North Caro
lina. He will also serve as ski in
structor at Senior Camp.

Gilbert Retires
After 35 Years
In School Work
Joseph W. Gilbert, native of
Perry who has many relatives
here, retired recently as principal
of Robert E. Lee High School at
Jacksonville, Fla.
Mr. Gilbert was honored at a
Recognition Day dinner at the
Garden Center in Jacksonville.
Mr. Gilbert lived in Jacksonville
for 35 years, during which time
he devoted his life to the schools
as teacher, coach and principal of
four schools and superintendent of
schools for Duval county.
The mayor of Jacksonville, Hay
don Burns, proclaimed May 30 as
“Joseph W. Gilbert Day” in Jack
sonville.
Mr, Gilbert was principal of
Central Riverside School, Wescon
nett Elementary School, Brent
wood School and Robert E. Lee
High School.
His mother is Mrs. HH. T. Gil
bert of Perry, and Mrs. A. M. An
derson Jr. of Perry is his sister.

Mrs. C. R. Bragg has returned
home from the Peach County Hos
pital where she has been a patient
for a week,
Mayo Davis was dismissed from
the Macon Hospital last Wednes
' day.

VOTERS INCREASE
The number of registered voters
in Houston county has increased
[ more than 300 since the county
primary March 22, Miss Florine C.
Rainey, tax collector, reported this
. week.
, Registered voters for the state
primary to be held Sept. 14 total
7,653, as compared with 7,306 qua
[ lified for the March vote.
Miss Rainey said the increase in
cluded new registrations as well
as transfers from other counties.

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Beatty of
Columbus announce the birth of a
son, Brooks Hugh, on June 10. Mr.
and Mrs. Hugh Beatty of Perry
are the grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Lane an
nounce the birth of a daughter,
Peggy LeJeane, born June 1 at the
Hendrick Clinic.
Wesleyan Juniors
Name Miss Staples
Miss Sherry Staples, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Staples of Per
ry, was recently elected president
of her class at Wesleyan College
in Macon.
Sherry will be a junior next fall,
and has served on the board of
Social Standards for two years.
She was also captain of the sopho
more soccer team this year.
After completing summer school
at Mercer University, Sherry will
return to Wesleyan this fall.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Butthum of
Centre, Ala., visited Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Pafford Jr. during the
weekend.

Perry resident, received her doc
torate in Romance languages from
the University of North Carolina
at commencement exercises, Mon
day night, June 6.
She will join the faculty of Fur
man University, Greenville, S. C
in September, as associate proses!
