Billion Dollar Cuifowm
oom to foam!
$1,000,000,000! . . . this year the members of
America’s Rural Electric Systems will spend a
billion dollars on electric appliances appliances
made, sold, and serviced in the cities and towns.
And that wouldn’t have been possible just 25
years ago. It is possible now only because groups
of rural people banded together to form their own
Rural Electric System to serve themselves with
electricity the only way they could get it!
One important feature of this great booster for
our economy is that it pays its way— Rural Elec
tric Systems repay their loans from the REA, with
interest . . . have already repaid in principal and
interest over a billion dollars!
This year the 25th Anniversary Year of
Rural Electrification we celebrate the accom
plishment of a job well done ... by the people
... for the people. We look forward to a future
of still greater progress . . .
