being honored with several parties

next Sunday, July 17, at 4 o’clock
nt the Perry Methodist Church.
On Monday evening, Miss Laurie
Anderson was hostess at a dinner
party at the New Perry Hotel.
Guests were Mrs. Angela Silcox
and Mrs. Earl Lacey of Warner
Robins, and Miss Williams, who
was presented a pretty sugar and
cream set.
Mrs. Davis’ Tea
On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Ma
yo Davis honored the bride-elect
with a lovely tea at her home. The
tea table, overlaid with a white
Venetian cutwork cloth over blue
satin, had a silver punch bowl set
at one end and at the opposite end
a silver epergne holding lighted
blue tapers and blue and white
pom pom chrysanthemums and
clusters of green grapes.
Presiding at the punch bowl
was Mrs. W. J. Sexton. Assisting
in entertaining were Mrs. W. Y.
Green, Mrs. F. M. Houser and
Mrs. John L. Hodges. Twenty
Jaycees to Erect
Four Road Signs
Members of the Perry Jaycees
Monday night were informed that
Terry Waldorf, manager of the lo
cal office of Fourcher, Allen and
Parker was appointed as chairman
of a committee to erect four road
signs on entrance to the city de
signating Perry as the home of
the State Junior Chamber of
Commerce Headquarters.
This is a long needed project
and it will attract a lot of visitors
to stop by and see the State Jay
cee Building. Another committee
headed by the officers and direc
tors was approved; to maintain
the Headquarters Building, beau
tify the grounds, light the build
ing with flood lights at night and
to establish a plaque on the build
ing designating the original build
ing committee. This will add much
to the beautification of our fair
city.
Perry is going to bid on the
Fall 3rd District Meeting, which
will be held in November. If they
get the bid it will be held at the
New Perry Hotel.
The Summer 3rd District Meet
ing will be held in Fort Valley
on August 3. This will be the first
district meeting that has ever been
held in Fort Valley and plans in
dicate that it will be a real suc
cess.
Another important meeting com
ing up is the State Board Meet
ing which will be held in Atlanta
on August 5,6, and 7at the Dink
ier Plaza Hotel.
Members of the Perry Jaycees
wish to remind you that they need
young men in our organization
and cordially invite you to attend
our meeting held on the first and
third Mondays at New Perry
Hotel.
J. D. Linton of North Carolina
arrived last Saturday for a visit
of several days with his sister,
Mrs. Norliss Chapman, and family.
Mrs. Chapman and children, Don,
Diane and Debra returned with
him as far as South Carolina for
a ten-day visit with relatives there.

cellaneous shower at her home.
Thursday, Mrs. Sam A. Nunn
and Mrs. W. E. Marshall Jr. will
entertain at an informal morning
party at the home of the former.
Bridesmaids Luncheon
Saturday, Mrs. Joe Gayle will
entertain the groom-elect, John T.
Bondurant, his attendants and his
father, Dr. John H. Bondurant at
Malatchie Farms. Mr. Gayle is an
alumnus of the University of Ken
tucky where Dr. Bondurant, is a
professor in the college of Agri
culture.
Saturday evening, the rehearsal
party will be given by Dr. and Mrs.
Bondurant at the New Perry Ho
tel.
Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. John L.
Hodges, will entertain the bridal
party and out-of-town relatives at
a luncheon at the Hotel.
Following the wedding, the
bride’s mother, Mrs. Walter Rus
sell Williams, will give a recep
tion for the bridal couple in the
social hall of the church.
Mrs. Malissa Tucker was the
weekend guest of her brother, Mr.
Charlie R. Giles, and family in
Sandersville.

Clinchfield Club
Has Family Picnic
Members of the Clinchfield
Home Demonstration Club and
their families, totaling 32 people,
enjoyed a family picnic at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Fish
er Friday evening, July 8.
Tables were set up under the
trees on the spacious lawn and
picnics lunches spread. Mrs. Fish
er, president of the club, asked
Mr. J. C. Matthews to grace the
table. Delicious foods of quite a
variety were enjoyed.
The adults enjoyed visiting with
one another while the younger
ones played on the lawn. If you
were absent, you missed a most
enjoyable evening.

The Nell Brunson Circle of the
First Baptist Church met on Mon
day at the home of Mrs. Horace
Langston with 11 members pre
sent. Mrs. Clifton Athon present
ed the program entitled “Educa-,
ting Youth In Missions”. Mrs. W.
H. Whitten was co-hostess for the
meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Gooden re
turned last weekend from Chicago
where they were the guests of
their daughter, Mrs. Frank Estes,
and Mr. Estes for a month. Mrs.
Estes returned to Perry with her
parents and will remain for a visit
of several weeks.

Voters List Rises
In Houston County
Houston county’s number of
qualified voters is growing again.
Miss Florine C. Rainey, tax col
lector, said 7,653 persons will be
qualified to vote in the Sept. 14
| State Primary and 8,212 will be
qualified to vote in the general
election in November.
The list has dropped to 7,306
for the county primary held last
March, after those who had not
1 voted in two years had been ta
ken from the qualified list.
Mr. and Mrs. Claude M. Wilson
and son of Crestview, Fla. spent
several days with Mr. and Mrs.
John C. Wilson.
