recent meeting sponsored by the
chamber.
The question was “What achieve

Five Sweetheart
Finalists Chosen

Five girls were selected last
Tuesday as finalists in the chapter
’ sweetheart contest. These girls are
Louise Hill, Carol Etheridge, El
• len Lasseter, Alice Hunt and Cher
yl Richards. These girls will pre
sent a skit at the next night
meeting of the FFA, and each
member will vote upon their
choice.
The FFA Sweetheart is one of
i the highest awards in Perry High
School—that is being the sweet
• heart of about 100 boys. The Per
ry FFA has been fortunate in hav
ing girls to compete in the dis
i trict finals and some to win the
i district in the last six years.
DAIRY SHOW HELD
At the Middle Georgia FFA and
1 4-H Dairy Show in Macon, Andy
Talton placed fourth in his class—
senior yearling heifers. James Da
vis from Gray exhibited the grand
champion, and Reed Hampton of
Gray exhibited the reserve cham
pion.
STRING BAND PLAYS
The Perry FFA string band
played at the annual meeting of
the Middle Georgia Co-op in Ma
con. Members of the string band
attending were Andy Talton,
Wayne Stewart, Jackie Stewart,
Leroy Taylor, Charles Harrison,
Ken Wilson, Bobby Ragan and
Richard Tucker. Mr. Cheek was
only the only lucky person from
Perry to win a prize.
EIGHTH GRADE ELECTS
The eighth grade FFA held its
election of officers. The following
were elected: Jackie Smith, presi
dent; Harry Johnson, first vice
president; Charles Ayer, second
vice president; Louis Ragan, third
vice president; David Anderson,
secretary; Sonny Heard, treasurer;
Johnny Woolfoik, reporter; Jerry
Johnson, sentinel; Eddie Wall,
chaplain.
