11 at Kansas City, Missouri.
A host of speakers will appear
during the three days jam-packed
with activities. Again this year,
I the convention has been planned
I to embrace more of the American
Royal Livestock and Horse Show.
The delegates from Perry in
clude Stewart Bloodworlh, Ameri
can Farmer degree candidate and
state delegate; Robert Rush, Am
erican Farmer degree candidate;
| Earl Cheek, state delegate; Lee
Rush, district winner of the beef
cattle improvement contest; Lar
'ry Huff, district winner of the
painting contest; Dan Adkison,
' chapter delegate; Andy Talton,
i chapter delegate; Larry Johnson,
chapter delegate; and Mr. H. A.
| Casey, advisor of the winning
chapter in the district home im
provement contest.
Highlights of the convention will
be the American Farmer degree
ceremony, National Chapter
Awards Ceremony, and the Na
tional Gold Emblem Chapter |
Awards Ceremony. Other activities |
include the judging of national
contests, election of new national
officers, and special FFA talent
shows.

Ronnie Harper placed second in
the state finals of the Safe Trac
tor Operation and Maintenance
Contest competing against finalists
from each of the four districts.
In the district contest Ronnie
[ won S3O for second place, and in
I the state contest he won S4O. The
! state winner won SSO plus an ad
ditional SIOO to defray his expen
ses to the National FFA Conven
| tion in Kansas City, Mo.
| This contest is decided upon the
I following points; tractor driving—
i 30, tractor maintenance record—
-20, true-false examination—ls, and
the demonstration on how to per
r form a tractor maintenance job—
• 35. Ronnie was first in driving and
tied for first in the job demon
stration with a perfect score of
35 points. Ronnie lost first in the
whole contest by 9 tenths of a
point.
The contest was held at the
Southeastern Fair in Atlanta and
5 is sponsored by the Standard Oil
i. Company. These awards will be
presented at the state FFA rally
in Macon,

i FFA HOLDS HOG SHOW
• The Perry FFA held its annual
hog show Friday, October 6 at the
1 Perry Agricultural Building.
In the boar class, Louis Pearce
exhibited the Grand Champion,
| Junior Hatton, the Reserve Cham
• pion, and Raymond Money, the
" third place winner. All the boars
> are owned by the chapter, and the
' Grand Champion Boar will be
f shown at the state fair in Macon.
In the gilt class, Iverson Golden
5 exhibited the Grand Champion,
’ and Wayne Ryner, the Reserve
’ Champion. Other placings included
’ Perry Hammock, third; Larry Bar
; rett, fourth; Carl Williamson,
fifth; Sonny Liveston, sixth; Rich
ard Horsting, seventh; James
Bloodworlh, eighth; and Wendell
Kersey, ninth and tenth. The gilts
arc owned by the exhibitors, and
some of the top gilts in the class
will be shown in Macon at the
' state air. Other exhibitors in the
| show were Hugh Hill, David Hat
ton and Edward Morton.

al; to preserve and strengthen
comradeship among its members;
to assist worthy comrades; to per
petuate the memory and history of
its dead, and to assist their widows
and orphans; to maintain true
allegiance to the Government of
the United States of America and
fidelity to its Constitution and
Laws; to foster true patriotism; to
maintain and extend the institu
tions of American freedom; and
to preserve and defend the United
States from all her enemies,
whomsoever.
4. The location and principal
office of said corporation will be
at Feagin Mill Road, Warner Rob
ins, said State and County.
5. The active and voting mem
bership of this corporation shall
at all times be confined to the
active members in good standing
in the Warner Robins Memorial
Post 6605, Veterans of Foreign
ars of (he United States.
6. Petitioners desire the right to
transact such business as may be
necessary to the proper mainte
nance and successful conduct of
its affairs and desire the usual cor
porate power granted to corpor
ations of the State of Georgia pur
suant to Title Number 22, Chap
ter 1801, et sec. of the Code of
the State of Georgia and desire
existence for thirty-five (35) years
with privilege of renewal as is
provided by law.
7. This corporation being a sub
ordinate unit of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars shall at all times
remain under the jurisdiction of
and be governed according to the
constitution and by-laws of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the
United States and said corpora
tion will at no time adopt by-laws
that may be in conflict with the
national constitution and by-laws
of Veterans of Foreign Wars of
the United States.

For Elijah Roberts
Elijah Roberts, 81, of Route 1,
Kathleen, died Monday night at
the Houston County Hospital after
suffering a stroke.
Funeral services were held Wed
nesday afternoon at the Bonaire
Baptist Church with Rev. Ford
Wilson officiating. Burial was in
Bonaire cemetery.
Mr. Roberts was born in Mc-
Minnsville, Tenn. He moved to
Kathleen 30 years ago from Louis
ville, Ala. He was a retired tim
ber dealer He was a member of
the Bonaire Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Florence Mcßride Roberts of
Kathleen; three sons, Roy Roberts
of Kathleen, Wilson Roberts, War
ner Robins, and Elmer Roberts,
Lockhart, S. C.; three daughters,
Mrs. W. H. Griffin, Warner Rob
ins, Miss Myrtle Dean Roberts,
Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. L. M.
Cox, Birmingham, Ala., and one
brother, I. C. Roberts of Beershe
ba Springs, Tenn.; three sisters,
