Perry May Change
Missile in Midstream
Perry may miss its much-dis
cussed missile.
“I don’t know whether we
ought to change missiles in the
middle of the airstream”, Coun
cilman Don Parkinson said at
City Council meeting Tuesday
night after Mayor Richard B.
Ray said moving of the Titan
Missile 1 from California to
Perry became too expensive.
“They're offering us a Minute
Man missile at no cost”, Mayor
Ray reported. “They” are the
U. S. government, which offered
a Titan missile for the cost of
transporting it from California.
This price rose, because it was
discovered special racks would
be necessary, to about $1,500.
Perry’s mayor thought this was
too high and called off the Perry
acceptance.
Houston Indians Win
From Americas, 19-6
Halfback Kelly Daw s e y

the Houston County Indians
to defeat the Sumter High
Trojans of Americus, 19-6,
there Friday night.
The Indians and Trojans
played a scoreless first quar

began Dawsey ran 14 yards
for the first Indian touch
down. Fullback Johnny Heath
kicked the extra point to
make the score 7-0.
Later in the second quar

hit Dawsey for a 15-yard scor

1010 BALL ST. PERRY
Meanwhile, he said, the Cor
dele Rotary Club is going to pay
the $1,500 to get the Titan mis
sile, and the government has of
fered Perry a Minute Man <6B
feet tall as compared with 90-
foot Titan 1) at no cost. Perry,
however, would have to build a
"pad” and the mayor is investi
gating this problem.
City Council gave the problem
of the missile location to a cham
ber of Commerce committee,
which, it appears now, will give
the problem right back to city
council without making a recom

punt. The Trojans received
the punt and moved the ball
well but the drive was stop
ped when Americus fumbled
and the Indians’ Earl Jack
son recovered and ran 70
yards for a touchdown, which
was promptly called back be
cause of a foul. The Indians
got the ball on the 18-yard
line. On second down, Amer
icus picked off an Indian pass
and ran the interception the
length of the field for the
TD.
In the fourth quarter, the
Indians launched a drive led
by Heath and Dawsey, and
Dawsey ran the last yard for
his third touchdown of the
night.
The Indians are off this
week. The next game will be
in Perry Oct. 13, when the
Indians meet the Booker High
Tigers of Barnesville.
