thers-in-law of the groom,
Sherrod Waites of Orlando,
Florida and John Hamilton
Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., both
cousins of the groom.
Miss Judy Smith was cho
sen by the bride as her maid
of honor. Bridesmaids were

the groom, Miss Nelda Jolin
son, Mrs. Tommy Clifton of
Atlanta and Mrs. James Burns
of Atlanta.
They wore identical floor
length gowns of Peony pink
chiffon over taffeta. The Em
pire waist and long full
sleeves were of Shadow Chan
tilly lace. Inverted pleats
formed a Watteau panel that
floated from the back waist
line to the floor. Their bouf
fant veiling was held by a
matching head piece of Peony
pink flowers and they carried
nosegays of pink roses encir
cled with pink mums.
The bride, given in mar
riage by her father, wore a
gown of white silk organza,
featuring an oval neckline
and three - quarter sleeves,
with a flowing design of re
embroidered Alencon lace
trimming the modified Em
pire waist and skirt. A flat
bow accented the detachable
chapel train. Her bouffant
French silk illusion veil was
held by a face forward head
piece of pearls in a leaf and
flower design. She carried a
white orchid with stephanotis
and valley lilies on a white
prayer book, which was giv
en to the groom’s mother by
his father soon after they
were wed.
The mother of the bride
wore an aqua silk shantung
dress with lace yoke, match
ing accessories and a corsage
of white cymbidium orchids.
The groom’s mother was at
tired in blue silk organza
with horizontal bands of sat
in ribbon the full length,
matching accessories and a
white cymbidium orchid cor
sage.
Mrs. J. H. Gibson, grand
mother of the bride, wore a
rose lace dress and a phalae
nopsis orchid corsage.
Mrs. J. E. Brownlow, grand
mother of the bride, wore a
blue knit dress and a corsage
of phalaenopsis orchids.
Mrs. J. W. Jacobs, grand
mother of the groom, also
wore a rose lace dress and a
phalaenopsis orchid corsage.
Immediately following the
ceremony the bride’s parents
honored the couple with a re
ception in the Fellowship
hall of the church.
The bride’s table, overlaid
with pink organdy over taffe
ta caught at the corners with
nosegays of pink roses and
cascading pink satin ribbons,
held a beautiful four-tiered
white wedding cake emboss
ed with orchids and pink
roses complemented by a sil
ver candelabrum holding
lighted white candles. Serv
ing cake was Mrs. E. E. Ed
wards.
Keeping the bride’s book
was Mrs. Ted Heath of At
lanta, sister of the groom at
an appointed marble top tab
le adorned with an anniver
sary candle.
The refreshment table, al
so overlaid with pink organ
dy over taffeta caught at the
corners with pink nosegays,
held a silver punch bowl and
was centered with a silver
bowl arrangement of white
snapdragons, pink mums and
roses flanked by two compote
arrangements of pink mums
and silver candelabra with
burning white candles. Serv
ing punch were Miss Helen
Davis, Miss Cathy Arnold
and Miss Mary Rush.
Assisting in receiving and
entertaining were Mrs. A. H.
Cotton, Mrs. Gene Smith and
Mrs. Richard Johnson.
The bride chose for travel
ling a pink shantung dress
and coat ensemble with mat
ching accessories and the or
chid from her bridal bouquet.
After a wedding trip to
Tennessee, Sgt. and Mrs. Ja
cobs will return to Perry be
fore leaving for Londan, Eng
land where he is stationed.

On Friday evening the
couple was honored at an al
fresco affair given by Mr.
and Mrs. Andy Talton Jr. at
their home in Kathleen.
The occasion was cook-out
held on the back patio. Red
and white garden flowers
and hurricane lamps center
ed the picnic tables which
were overlaid with red and
white checked table mats.
Hanging baskets were also
used in the patio decorations.
An Early American wooden
ice bucket and tongs were
presented the couple by their
hosts.
Ten couples enjoyed this
delightful affair.
The bridesmaids’ luncheon
was held on Saturday at the
home of Mrs. Troy Rowell
in Camelot honoring Miss
Clay with Mrs. Ted Heath of
Atlanta and Mrs. Bill Odell
of Carbon Hill, Ala., all sis
ters of the groom, as co-hos
tesses.
Pink and green was the
color scheme used, a silver
and crystal epergne arrange
ment of garden flowers adorn
ed the buffet table and simi
lar miniature arrangements
were used on the individual
tables. The place cards fea
tured pink umbrellas.
Miss Clay presented ster
ling letter openers to her at
tendants and was’ presented a
silver and crystal casserole
dish by her hostesses.
Covers were laid for 16.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Jacobs,
parents of the groom, were
hosts at the rehearsal dinner
on Saturday evening at the
New Perry Hotel.
The center table decora
tion was an unique wedding
bell arrangement of white
pompoms flanked by silver
candelabra holding burning
white candles. Wedding bells
were repeated on the place
cards.

Engagement Announced
Mr. and Mrs, W. S. Bailey Jr. of Perry announce
the engagegent of their daughter, Patricia Gail
Bailey, to Alton Fulton Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Grady Johnson of Cochran. A June wedding is being
planned.
Mrs. Andy Campbell of At
lanta spent several days with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Stanley Smith. Her daughter,
Stephanie, returned home
with her after a visit with
her grandparents.
