Juan Thompson 'Civitan of Year’
The highlight of the an
nual installation banquet of
the Perry Clvitan Club was
the naming of Juan Thomp
son as the recipient of the
Harold C. Fast Memorial
Award as Civitan of the
year, "for his contributions to
the community, by exemplify
ing the Civitan Creed and its
motto. Builders of Good Citi
zenship’
The winner was chosen by
secret ballot by the member
ship and the award was pre
sented by Mrs. Harold C.
Fast of North Palm Beach,
Fla , widow of Harold C. Fast.
It was a real honor to have
Mrs Fast came and take
part in this presentation.
Juan has only been in Civi
tan for 15 months but has
certainly made his mark in
this short time. The Ferry
Civitan Club had been trying
for six years to organize a
Junior Civitan Club in Perry
with only frustration to show
for our efforts. After being ,
named committee chairman ,
for Junior Civitan, Juan was
able to not only organize the
boys but also a companion
Junior Civinetle girls’ group.
Both of these clubs are func
tioning well and won several
top awards at the recent state
convention at Jekyll. Juan is
faculty advisor for both clubs
More farmers harvest more
peanuts with Lilliston
Combines than with any other
make in the field.
Fifty-four years of pioneering
know-how pays off for these
farmers harvest after harvest
year after year.
They know when they've got
something good going for them.
In fact —the best!

other phases of Civitan work

candy, and doing voluntary
work at the Ocklahatchee

Juan was awarded a pin
for one year's perfect attend
ance and will serve as’ a club

As Civitan President Jim
Agerton says, “Thanks to
Juan who would always have

Use Power Mower
With Utmost Care
Never clean your power mower
while the motor is running.
Should the rotating blade be
come clogged by grass clippings,
shut off the motor and discon- ■
neet the spark plug wire before
attempting to clear the machine,
the American Insurance Associa
tion cautions.
In any event, the Association
warns, avoid a possible serious
injury by keeping your hands *
away from the blade until it
completely stops.
Ihe association also advises
that the mower should be used
only when there is sufficient day
light; it should not be lifted
while the motor is running, nad
one should be sure ol his footing,
balance and control of the ma- “
chine, while operating it.
