A request by the City of Perry for financial help in paying costs of recent racial disturbances in Perry was taken under consideration. Mayor Malcolm Reese ex plained that costs of extra officers and feeding and housing state patrolmen had already run over SIO,OOO. A liquor and beer license for a store at Bonaire was approved for Mrs. Laverne Darsey of Warner Robins. The commissioners appoin ted John Vandegrif/ at a yearly salary of SIO,OOO to set up a county engineers office. He will become num ber two man in the depart ment when a senior county engineer is employed at a later date. A donation of SSOO to the Junior Deputies League was approved, as the letting of a contract to Ed Rozier Con struction Co. of Macon foF the construction of a cul vert on Green St. in Warner Robins. Besides the still, officers destroyed 500 gallons of mash, 58 five gallon plastic jugs and 18 55-gallon drums. Evans said the case is still under investigation and that other arrests may be made soon. ' h gfc. HOUSTON DEPUTY SHERIFF J. W. Benford helps destroy a 1,000 gallon moonshine still discovered by law officers on the Grovania Road about 6 miles southeast of Perry. The still was located in a shed in the backyard of DeLacey Johnson's house, a 43 year old Negro who was arrested in connection with the raid.
