They are found everywhere —on top of, underneath, in side of, climbing on, swing ing from, running around or jumping to. Mothers love them, little girls hate them, older sisters and brothers tolerate them, adults ignore them and heaven protects them. A boy is Truth with dirt on its face, Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair and the Hope of the future with a frog in its pocket. A boy has the appetite of a horse, the digestion of a sword swallower, the energy of a pocket-size atomic bomb, the curiosity of a cat, the lungs of a dictator, the im agination of a Paul Bunyan the shyness of a violet, the audacity of a steel trap, the enthusiasm of a firecracker, and when he makes some thing he has five thumbs on each hand. He likes ice cream, knives, saws, Christmas, comic books, the boy across the street, woods, water (in its natural habit), large animals, Dad, trains, Saturday morn ings and fire engines. He is not much for Sunday School, Mrs. Buckner Gives Shower Miss Mary Catherine Sprad ley of Pinehursl, bride-elect of David Perry Holliman 11, was honored with a miscellaneous shower on June 5 by Mrs. F. The brides mother was dressed in a mint green em broidered organza dress with matching sleeveless coat. company, schools, books f without pictures, music les sons, neckties, barbers, girls,, overcoats, adults or b'edtinip, Nobody else is so early so rise or late to supper. No body else gets so much fun out of trees, dogs and bree zes. Nobody else can cram into one pocket a rusty knife, a half-eaten applk, three feet of string, an emp ty Bull Durham sack, two gumdrops, six cents, a sling shot, a chunk of unknowh substance and a genuine sup ersonic code ring with a sec ret compartment. A boy is a magical crea ture you can’t lock him out of your heart. You can get him out of your study, but you can’t get him out of your mind. Might as well give up—he is your captor, your jailer, your boss and your master—a freckle-faced pint sized—bundle of noise. But when you come home at night with only the shattered pieces of your hopes and dreams, he can mend them with two magic words—“Hi Dad!” And, you know, these strange little creatures some how manage to grow up to be “Dads” and it is to them we give all the love and ap preciation, Sunday—Father’s Day.
